JOB TITLE: Loan Officer
DEPARTMENT: Member Service Department
REPORTS TO: Member Services Supervisor
PURPOSE:
Handle all aspects of Loan Officer duty. Constantly follow proper procedures and policies to ensure the safety of our members deposits and the safety of the members and Credit Union assets.
ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Provide exceptional member service as needed for our membership.
- Handle member situations in a timely and professional manner.
- Maintain strict confidentiality pertaining to all members accounts.
- Courteously, promptly and professionally answer incoming telephone calls.
- Explain, promote and sell services and products to our membership.
- Understanding of loan procedures and policies.
- Effectively answer loan questions as they arise, with regards to rates, terms, insurances, current and upcoming loan promotions and all others that arise.
- Accept and review all incoming loan applications, ex. Loan by phone, internet, call center, lobby and indirect lending.
- Prepare all approved loans in accordance with established loan policies and procedures; as well as obtain all necessary documentation prior to disbursal.
- Call approved loan applicants and schedule appointments for disbursal.
- Inform all loan applicants of loan decisions for incoming member inquiries.
- Close and fund all approved loans according to procedure and policy.
- Understand and comply with all State laws, NCUA rules and regulations, Reg B (Equal Credit Opportunity Act), TIS (Truth In Savings), Reg Z (Truth In Lending), S.A.F.E. Act (Secure and Fair Enforcement for Mortgage Licensing) and changes mandating our compliance.
- Follow up on loan appointments.
- Keep information logs on the number of loans handled and from what source they were received and relay this information to the CEO regularly.
- Communicate to the CEO suggestions for greater efficiency and cost saving.
- Attend all mandatory staff meetings and special purpose meetings as directed by the Member Service Supervisor.
- Communicate with tact, courtesy and professionalism when dealing with members, co-workers, management and suppliers.
- Develop a working knowledge of the Credit Union’s data processing system and procedures.
- Document and communicate all member complaints to the C.E.O. as well as a method of resolution, according to procedures established.
- Follow all policies and procedures of Bank Secrecy Act, (BSA) Anti-Money Laundering and Office of Foreign Asset Control (OFAC). Complete on-line compliance testing annually as required.
- Perform any additional duties as assigned.
- Answer incoming member phone calls.
- Maintain a thorough working knowledge of Credit Union history and philosophy, as well as policies and procedures of the Credit Union.
SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
- Intermediate computer skills to include Microsoft Office Suite.
- Critical, analytical and logical thinking skills.
- Organized and detail oriented.
- Utilize company paging system.
- Basic mathematical skills to include calculator usage with an understanding of interest rates.
- Comprehension and concise and clear writing abilities.
- Confident communication skills
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
- Requires sitting standing and walking.
- Frequent lifting of boxes and binders of up to 25 pounds and using force to move objects up to 35 pounds.
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:
- High school graduates preferred.
- 2yrs. Loan Officer, Financial institution environment

Pay: $50,000.00 - $60,000.00 per year
