WAYNE TOWNSHIP MENTAL HEALTH BOARD MANAGER
Position Summary:
Provide professional management and administrative support to the Mental Health Board (MHB), which distributes annual funding in the areas of mental health, developmental disabilities, and substance abuse intervention and prevention. Manage funding distributed to separate organizations and programs serving residents of Wayne Township. Perform oversight of funding recipients by conducting compliance audits, reviewing, and approval of monthly reporting. Manage the preparation and implementation of a three-year comprehensive strategic plan for the Mental Health Board.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform the management and administrative tasks necessary for the effective operation of the Mental Health Board. This will include managing the website and social media to get information out to the public and to interested entities.
- Conduct compliance audits and site visits of agencies and programs as defined by the Mental Health Board.
- Oversee applications, funding awards, and reporting for all agencies receiving annual and/or mid-year funding.
- Manage the preparation and implementation of a three-year comprehensive plan for mental health, developmental disabilities, and alcohol and substance abuse services in Wayne Township in consultation with the Mental Health Board, the departments of the State of Illinois, funded agencies, and other appropriate planning bodies.
- Provide oversight of funding recipients through review and approval of the monthly reporting process.
- Serve as the Mental Health Board’s liaison to funded agencies, community organizations, mental health planning bodies, and state government agencies.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Familiarity with the Illinois Community Mental Health Act.
- Capacity to identify and manage multiple projects, programs, and services efficiently and effectively with minimal supervision.
- Knowledge of principles, methods, and theory of public administration, project management, and grant administration.
- Ability to work in a diverse team environment while utilizing strong evaluative and critical judgment skills.
- Ability to create and edit reports and correspondence from varied source material using appropriate style and format.
- Ability to maintain effective professional relationships with elected officials, staff, residents, grantees, and vendors.
Education, Experience, and Computer Skills:
- Bachelor’s degree in public administration, non-profit administration, or related field.
- Two years of related experience in local government, human services, grant administration, or related fields. Knowledge and experience with budgeting and financial management are a plus.
- Experience in staff support to a policy-setting, volunteer board is beneficial.
- Equivalent combination of education and experience is acceptable.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office-related applications to include spreadsheets, database applications, and PowerPoint.

- This position is primarily executed indoors. Hours may vary, but the applicant would be needed on meeting nights.
The Position:
- A part-time position averaging 15 hours/week
- This is a 1099/contract position
- Salary range of $30-35k/year
- Work will occur primarily at Wayne Township offices
