Essential functions (job duties):
An opening is available for a biomedical engineer to develop and manage research projects in the area of injury biomechanics. The successful candidate will be expected to develop detailed research plans, perform impact testing involving mechanical and electronic setups, manage internal/external resources to achieve project objectives, interface with sponsors and standard setting organizations.
Manage research projects through all stages
including concept, implementation, setup and impact testing, analysis and
dissemination. Specifically, the candidate would be responsible for assisting
in the preparation of grants/proposals to secure funding from outside sources,
implementation of research in the laboratory setting, setup mechanical and
electronic tests, conduct experiments, analysis of data using a variety of
software packages, and formulation of final report.
Assist in the management of student assistants and
technicians.
Interface with researchers, outside clients, and
academic personnel.
Prepare reports and presentations for both internal
and external dissemination.
Stay current with advances in injury biomechanics
and related fields.
Attend technical meetings and participate in
activities of technical Societies as appropriate.
Provide technical assistance to senior researchers
and academic personnel.
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in biomedical engineering or
associated field.
Knowledge of instrumentation, impact testing and
computational analysis of data required.
Excellent oral/written communication skills and
interpersonal skills required.
