Wayne Soil & Water Conservation District Job Opening Announcement – June 18, 2026
The Wayne Soil and Water Conservation District (SWCD) is seeking qualified applicants for a full-time Nutrient Management Technician in its Wooster, Ohio office. This is a 5-year, grant-funded position.
Job duties include:
- Working closely with producers to prepare and implement Nutrient Management Plans.
- Assisting landowners on proper land application techniques given soil and crop conditions.
- Working closely with local agri-businesses, co-ops, and agencies to coordinate manure management education events and to promote effective nutrient management practices.
- Supporting District technical staff on engineering surveys, design, and construction.
- Promoting the adoption and application of soil and water conservation practices.
- Assisting producers in developing and applying conservation cropping systems.
- Prepare and maintain forms and assist the technical staff in maintaining field office records and in preparing reports.
- Participate in public outreach and other duties as required to provide SWCD services
Details are as follows:
- 40 hours per week, Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

Applicants should meet the following qualifications:
- Be at least 18 years of age and in possession of a valid driver’s license
- Pass a criminal background check
- Possess relevant work or educational experience (required)
- Associate degree or higher (preferred) or equivalent work experience
- Ability to work independently and in a team environment
- Possess strong oral and written communication skills
- Possess strong interpersonal skills
- Proficient in using Microsoft Word, Excel (CAD experience preferred)
- Able to work in a variety of indoor and outdoor conditions
- Possess a passion for agriculture and/or natural resources conservation
