The Workforce Development Specialist will work directly with job seekers, employers, educational facilities, and other community partners to assist with employment and training related activities in a PA CareerLink® setting as a partner to the Pocono Counties Workforce Investment Area.

The Workforce Development Specialist will work directly with job seekers, employers, educational facilities, and other community partners to assist with employment and training related activities in a PA CareerLink® setting as a partner to the Pocono Counties Workforce Investment Area.
Responsibilities And Duties
- Provide intensive individual career counseling and support to clients as needed;
- Work with clients to develop individual training plans based on the assessment of client needs;
- Collaborate on client recruitment and orientation efforts to inform potential participants of program benefits and responsibilities;
- Understand and track the labor market to guide clients and obtain effective outcomes;
- Interact with state Labor and Industry and Welfare staff to provide seamless service to all populations: employed, unemployed, disabled, and veterans;
- Assist job seekers in the Career Resource Area with all job search activities;
- Conduct and/or assist with employment workshops;
- Interview job seekers to assess work history, interests, and education;
- Determine and verify eligibility for program services according to Workforce Innovation & Opportunity Act regulations;
- Formulate and assist with implementation of individual employment plans;
- Provide guidance, referral, case management, training, and follow-up services to eligible applicants;
- Identify and help to remove barriers to financial self-sufficiency;
- Interact with employers through job fairs, individual contact, and the internet to assist with job postings and applicant referrals;
- Meet federal and state employment and training goals established through the Workforce Innovation & Opportunity Act;
- Prepare reports and keep well-organized records using the Commonwealth Workforce Development System of records (CWDS);
- Outreach to schools and partner agencies;
- Engage in required professional development, credentialing, and re-credentialling
- Document all interactions within the CWDS system of record
- Knowledge of career development programs, services and techniques
- Familiarization with the Workforce Innovation & Opportunity Act (WIOA) is preferred but not required

- Willingness to occasionally work flexible, varying hours, including evenings and weekends as needed
- Driver's License in good standing
