Job Description:
A Registered Professional Nurse reporting to the ED Unit Director. The ED/EMS Unit Coordinator will be responsible for coordinating unit education and managing the practice of clinical staff in the delivery of care in an emergency department setting. This includes planning, organizing, data collecting, analyzing data for changes and improvement of care, instruction, and evaluation of unit competency. As well as education initiatives to include varying modalities to retain education.
Responsible for staff’s individual education needs, this includes coordination of the unit orientation process, mentoring, coaching, and weekly progress meetings for the first 90 days to 6 months to ensure the assessment of ongoing needs. Knowledgeable in research and evidence-based practice. Organizes unit in-services and provides education on equipment and practice changes through varying modalities to ensure retention.
The ED/EMS Unit Coordinator will collaborate with the educational department, as well as other disciplines, and assist the unit Director in achieving an environment of excellence in clinical quality, safety, and service by promoting unit initiatives and evidence-based practice.
The ED/EMS Unit Coordinator also consults, coordinates, and evaluates care of the pre-hospital patient using an interdisciplinary approach in the emergency department setting. Serves as liaison between all members of the healthcare team from pre-hospital care through the Emergency Department and continuum of care.
Qualifications:
- Currently licensed to practice in the State of Ohio
- BSN required
- Master's degree in nursing Education or CEN obtains within 2 years
- BLS & ACLS required, PALS required within 6 months
- One year of clinical education experience preferred
- Emergency/Trauma experience required, minimum 3 years
- TNCC certification preferred but not required
- EMS experience previous or current preferred
Requirements:
- Comprehensive current knowledge of nursing and health care practices
- Evidence of good communication skills
- Ability to work well one-on-one or in groups
- Unit educator for all employees within the ED unit
- Establishes and maintains a close working relationship with the Main Education department
- Maintains all required qualifications for area assigned
- Assist with staff scheduling
- Assist with administrative tasks as assigned
- All other tasks as assigned
Salary : $41,242 - $57,587
