- At least five (5) years of successful teaching experience, supplemented by blended learning teaching/coaching experience
- Licensure preferred in at least one of the following:
- 78300 (MG Science), 302 Earth Science, and/or 310 Biology
- 077 Instructional Technology Specialist - Computers
- 18079 Special Endorsement in Computer Education
- Salary based on the state teacher salary schedule according to licensure
- 12 Month
NATURE OF WORK
Instructional Coaching & Student-Centered Cycles
- Partner with classroom teachers to plan, implement, and reflect on formal, 4-to-6-week student-centered coaching cycles focused on specific, measurable student learning goals rather than teacher performance.
- Collaborate to unpack standards, design high-impact instructional strategies, and actively co-teach, model lessons, or engage in side-by-side coaching to support the immediate application of new practices.
- Lead the formative assessment process by regularly gathering and analyzing student work and data alongside the teachers to gauge progress, differentiate instruction, and adjust teaching practices in real-time.
- Evaluate the effectiveness of coaching cycles by measuring the direct impact on student outcomes and instructional quality, ensuring a demonstrable shift toward student mastery and equitable learning environments.
- Provides input on the development of system-wide and building-level programs that enable staff & students to use technology as a learning tool.
- Investigates and disseminates information on best practices, trends, research, and applications in educational technology and STEM/STEAM education.
- Provides management and guidance to the Tech Mentor and Instructional Technology Facilitator program.
- Assists with documenting and interpreting the effectiveness of district programs, providing constructive input and evaluation.
- Provides training and support to the staff on educational technology integration following the NC Standard Course of Study, the NC Digital Learning Student Standards, and the NC Digital Learning Competencies for Educators.
- Participates in assigned regional and state-sponsored activities that promote the use of digital content, educational technology, and STEM initiatives, and conveys that information to district personnel for integration and inclusion into all areas of the curriculum.
- Supports district efforts to use educational technology to increase engagement through collaboration and communication by implementing digital learning experiences that utilize appropriate products for educators.
- Collaborates with curriculum teams to support the integration of STEM principles, problem-based learning, and inquiry-based technology applications across grade levels.
- Conducts professional development on digital learning and STEM integration topics for the district. This includes face-to-face, hybrid, or online instruction.
- Provides support and training for platforms such as Google Workspace, Google Classroom, Infinite Campus & Schoolnet.
- Serves as a contact between the district and local/state agencies.
- Models effective integration of technology and STEM learning for staff and students.
- Assists with special projects, STEM events (e.g., robotics, coding initiatives, science fairs), and district initiatives.
- Collaborates with stakeholders to select and evaluate digital and STEM-related tools, considering available technology and infrastructure resources.
- Communicates with digital learning and STEM resources vendors regarding the purchasing and implementation of digital tools.
