What are the responsibilities and job description for the Assistant Prosecuting Attorney - Level 3 position at Wayne County Prosecutor's Office?
The Wayne County Prosecutor’s Office is housed in the state-of-the-are Criminal Justice Center just north of downtown Detroit, a vibrant city where you can live, work, and play amid rich culture and diverse neighborhoods. The office offers free parking and easy access to dining, professional sports, and nightlife and the historic Eastern Market. It’s also close to the Detroit Science Center, the Detroit Institute of Arts, and Charles H. Wright Museum and it is only a few minutes from Wayne State University and the Detroit Medical Center.

COMPENSATION: Compensation is commensurate with experience. Full medical benefits, as well as a retirement plan with robust time off, and paid parental leave, etc., with an annual step increase.
QUALIFICATIONS: Juris Doctorate Degree; must be a member in good standing of the State Bar of Michigan; possess effective oral and written communication skills; highly organized and extremely motivated. You must have a minimum of 2 years of experience litigating violent crimes.
TYPICAL JOB DUTIES:
- Prosecute complex and difficult cases involving gangs/groups and high impact offenders.
- Prosecute high visibility/media cases.
- Conduct investigative subpoenas, motion and bond hearings, preliminary examinations, trials, and sentencings.
- Interview victims, witnesses and, in some instances, conduct investigative subpoenas.
- Provide zealous and effective advocacy on behalf of the People of the State of Michigan.
- Participate in Community crime prevention events and attend crime intelligence briefings.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
