The Wayne County Probate Court is looking for a Legal Assistant. This position is under the direct supervision of the Court Attorney and the overall direction of the Chief Deputy Probate Register; the Legal Assistant provides high-level administrative and legal support to the Probate Court. This position assists with case processing, legal documentation, specialized court programs, and coordination of court-related projects.

QUALIFICATIONS:
- Minimum of two (2) years of probate court or law firm experience in an administrative or legal support role required.
- Associate's degree in paralegal studies or related field preferred but not required.
- Strong organizational and time-management skills with the ability to prioritize multiple tasks effectively.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and court case management systems.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail.
Annual Salary: $56,600

GENERAL INFORMATION: Management will make all determinations as to what assessments will be used to establish qualifications. Application must be made on an application form which may be obtained from the Wayne County Probate Court Human Resources Office or downloaded from the WCPC SharePoint Home Page and accompanied by a cover letter and résumé. The application may be used both for determining admission to the examination, if applicable, and for assistance in rating qualifications and ability to do the job. Applicants will be notified of the time and place of the examination, if applicable. If you are handicapped, you must notify the Employer in writing of the need for accommodation in connection with job duties. Permanent appointees must satisfactorily complete a trial period of at least nine (9) months before obtaining regular status in the position and a nine (9) month probationary period if applicable.
