What are the responsibilities and job description for the Day Housekeeper position at Wayne Community College?
Primary Purpose
Perform general housekeeping duties to maintain campus buildings and facilities in clean conditions that promote teaching and learning.
Position Duties
Sweep and mop floors and vacuum daily.
Keep restrooms clean, sanitized, and stocked with necessary supplies.
Empty and clean trash containers.
Wash windows and glass doors daily.
Routinely dust furniture, blinds, and equipment.
Sweep and clean outside stairwells, colonnades, building entrances, and adjacent flowerbeds.
Assist with the setup of tables and chairs.
Assist with preparations for special events.
Carry equipment weighing more than 20 pounds.
Safely lift heavy objects such as full trash bags.
Perform other related duties as assigned.
This position reports directly to the Housekeeping Supervisor.
Position Requirements
High school diploma or equivalent from a regionally accredited institution.
Ability to communicate effectively.
Ability to follow oral and written instructions.
Ability to work independently or as part of a team.
Considerable knowledge of basic cleaning procedures, cleaning products, and janitorial equipment.
Basic working knowledge of computers and associated software.
Valid North Carolina driver’s license.
Driving record that allows the applicant to be insurable under Wayne Community College’s auto insurance policy.
Bilingual candidates preferred.
National Career Readiness Certificate preferred.
