Wayne Automatic Fire Sprinklers is looking for experienced Fire Sprinkler and Alarm Inspectors in our Concord, NC , branch to work in the surrounding areas. The Inspector at Wayne Automatic Fire Sprinklers, Inc. Performs inspection services on installed fire sprinkler systems in commercial properties, retail properties and multifamily dwellings. These inspections consist of fire pumps, fire hydrants, fire and domestic backflows, fire alarm systems. These inspections are to be completed in accordance with current NFPA Standards. This should also be applicable with WAFS contractual agreements, to determine if the system meets the requirements of the job and to ensure all equipment WAFS is contracted to test is functioning properly. Complete an Inspection report to record the findings at the of the inspections.
Position Responsibilities:
- Schedules Inspections with customers and complete them based on WAFS contractual agreements.
- Types of Inspections include, one-time inspections, walk-through inspections visually looking at all sprinklers, perform fire pump flow test at churn, 100% & 150% rated flow and record readings. Perform hydrant inspections, 5-year hydrant full flow test record static, residual, pitot readings and pump graphs.
- Perform fire alarm inspection certifications testing on, fire alarms, pull stations, smoke detectors, Duct detectors, flow switches, pressure switches tamper switches, all in accordance with in current NFPA 72 Fire Alarm Signaling Code.
- Inspect and test installed fire sprinkler systems and system components to verify all equipment is functioning properly and in accordance with current NFPA standards.
- Visually inspect entire buildings to identify corroded heads or other hazards, operate valves to ensure they open and shut, make sure flow bells ring, perform main drain test, flush systems, identify obstructions, note observations, etc. All in accordance with the current edition of NFPA 25 Water Based Inspections Testing and Maintenance.
- In some emergency situations replace or repair system components, such as valves, gauges, flow switches, tamper switches, etc.
- Proactively notify management of any issues, concerns, or changes on the existing job sites.
Qualifications:
What are the Qualifications for this position?
- Minimum of 3 years’ experience as a fire sprinkler inspector.
- Extensive knowledge and hands-on experience in inspecting fire sprinkler and fire alarm systems and conducting system testing.
- Preferred but not required; completion of Wayne Academy Apprenticeship Program, ABC Apprenticeship Program, OSHA 30-hour course.
- Required NICET level I and or level II certifications.
- Proficient in using computer software, including company-specific programs.
- Strong leadership abilities and previous experience supervising teams of Fitters and Helpers.
- Excellent organizational skills and ability to prioritize tasks effectively.
- Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, and the ability to engage with others professionally and collaboratively.
- Capable of working under pressure and meeting deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Ability to wear required protective equipment and adhere to safety guidelines on job sites.
- Must possess a valid driver’s license and maintain a clean driving record (a company vehicle will be provided).
- Successful completion of a pre-employment drug test, background check, and 10-year employment verification is required.
