We are a busy, heart-centered family law practice with an expanding estate planning component. We are looking for a bright, warm, and capable paralegal to help us do our best work for the people who want to leave a legacy, and who depend on us during some of the hardest seasons of their lives.

This is a hybrid position that requires in-person presence in Kailua-Kona, Hawaii multiple days per week. We are looking for a team member who has excellent communication skills and an upbeat personality who will be the first contact with prospective clients and who will manage the cases to completion.

Hybrid- part-time that may develop to full-time

Hourly Range $23–30/hr depending on experience

About the practice

Family law is where people arrive carrying real weight — a divorce, a custody question, a fear about their children's future. We take that seriously. Our work is centered on children and families, and we measure ourselves by whether we've genuinely contributed something positive to a client's life, not just closed a file or a paycheck.

We focus on constructive, creative, forward-looking outcomes wherever we can. Estate planning is a growing part of our practice — we help families put thoughtful, well-drafted plans in place (wills, trusts, and related documents) so they can protect the people they love and avoid conflict down the road. Some of this work happens right in clients' homes, including for those with mobility challenges. It's meaningful, proactive work, and it's a real part of what this role will support day to day.

What you'll do

● Support family law and estate planning matters from intake through completion — organizing files, drafting motions and paperwork, tracking deadlines, and keeping cases moving.

● Prepare and assemble estate planning packages — drafting wills, trusts, and related documents using our drafting software, and coordinating signing and notarization.

● Gather and organize client information for estate plans, and help prepare for signing meetings, including occasional in-home visits.

● Draft, format, and assemble documents, correspondence, and filings across both practice areas.

● Conduct legal and factual research to support active matters.

● Answer phones and respond to prospective client inquiries with warmth and professionalism, making a strong first impression for the practice.

● Communicate with clients, courts, and opposing offices with warmth, clarity, and professionalism.

● Handle occasional court trips, in-home appointments, and errands as the practice requires.

● Help keep our systems tidy and our client communication timely, so nothing falls through the cracks.

● Lend a hand with social media.

What we're looking for

Essential

● Excellent written and oral communication.

● Strong organization and follow-through in a busy environment.

● Discretion, warmth, and steadiness with clients in distress.

● Comfort with occasional in-person tasks, including court trips and errands.

A plus

● Experience drafting motions and conducting legal research.

● Experience with estate planning documents (wills, trusts) or document-drafting software.

● Familiarity with Clio.

● Familiarity with SharePoint.

● Some experience with social media posting.

● Prior family law or estate planning exposure.
