Senior Creative Strategist (YouTube & Video)
Wayfair’s Performance Creative team is seeking a data-driven Senior Video Creative Strategist to lead the development of innovative, insight-led video ad creative across OTT, CTV, OLV, and Upper Funnel paid social channels. This is a key role at the intersection of video storytelling, pre-production narrative design, and data, focused on architecting a best-in-class, on-brand video engine. You will design the overarching creative vision for our massive YouTube ecosystem (spanning upper-funnel storytelling to lower-funnel action), while strategically scaling our broader CTV and upper-funnel social video footprint across Meta, TikTok, and Pinterest.
Reporting directly to the Head of Performance Creative, you will act as part of a fast-paced, cross-functional Creative Lab team. You will collaborate with marketers, Go-To-Market (GTM) campaign leads, external DCO video partners, graphic designers, and motion editors to translate high-level business priorities into compelling, scalable video systems.
You will own end-to-end video campaign ideation—from narrative-led scriptwriting and storyboarding to on-set content capture, modular testing frameworks, and post-campaign optimization. You will ensure every video asset we launch upholds brand integrity, follows channel-specific best practices, and is systematically built to convert. This role is ideal for a video strategist with 5 years of experience in performance-driven environments who thrives on balancing brand narrative with rigorous experimentation, moving video from a reactive post-production lift into a proactive pre-production strategy.

This role is ideal for a video strategist with 5 years of experience in performance-driven environments who thrives on balancing brand narrative with rigorous experimentation, moving video from a reactive post-production lift into a proactive pre-production strategy.
What You'll Do
- Own the YouTube & Video Creative Blueprint: Serve as the strategic architect for our YouTube ecosystem (encompassing Brand, ABCDE framework, Shorts, and In-Stream layouts) alongside CTV and upper-funnel paid social (Meta, TikTok, Pinterest). You will establish the creative frameworks that balance on-brand storytelling with rigorous performance metrics.
- Build a Best-in-Class Video Engine: Move beyond reactive execution by architecting scalable, modular testing matrices optimized for YouTube’s algorithm and target viewer behaviors; utilize these frameworks to guide production shoots, editors, and DCO partners, turning performance data into repeatable creative wins across the entire funnel.
- Bridge GTM & Upper Funnel Campaigns: Partner directly with Go-To-Market (GTM) seasonal teams upstream to proactively shape and plan narrative-led campaigns, ensuring upper-funnel video assets across streaming and social platforms are performance-optimized and fill critical content gaps before editing begins.
- Pioneer GenAI Creative Concepts: Storyboard, script, and develop fully Generative AI video concepts for YouTube and CTV, partnering directly with our internal Visual AI team to execute cutting-edge, AI-driven video campaigns that push the boundaries of creative experimentation.
- Lead On-Set Capture & Cross-Functional Collaboration: Attend production shoots in person to record channel-specific raw footage and interchangeable ad components (such as hook variations, product showcases, and CTAs), shifting video production from a reactive post-production lift to an intentional pre-production strategy.
- Lead Cross-Functional & External Partnerships: Serve as the primary creative point of contact for internal YouTube/CTV media buyers, external platform representatives, and DCO video vendors, ensuring tight creative alignment with media spend and confidently presenting narratives to stakeholders.
- Track and Share Video Innovations: Monitor emerging creative video trends, platform algorithm changes, and format updates, systematically consolidating and sharing insights across the broader Creative Lab (including the O&O Lab) to foster a data-driven creative culture.
- Mentor and Guide Creative Talent: Provide clear, actionable narrative feedback, script adjustments, and strategic storyboards to motion designers and external editors while championing modular iteration and high-velocity testing frameworks.
- Leverage & Scale Creative Infrastructure: Strategically repurpose existing lifestyle, studio, 3D, and UGC assets into high-fidelity, modular video outputs to maximize multichannel platform reach efficiently without scaling production overhead linearly.
- 5 years of experience in digital marketing, media buying, or growth creative strategy within a fast-paced, high-volume environment (such as a growth agency or an in-house DTC/e-commerce brand).
- 2-3 years of experience explicitly architecting performance-driven creative strategies for YouTube (or managing YouTube media buying and optimization with a heavy emphasis on creative testing), demonstrating a deep mastery of how to design video assets for both Upper-Funnel awareness and Lower-Funnel direct response action.
- Experience with Google Ads Manager, YouTube Analytics, creative testing tools, and performance reporting dashboards.
- A proven ability to build on-brand, high-fidelity video systems that protect brand integrity while driving massive performance scale and measurable business results (e.g., site visits, view-through conversions).
- Deep understanding of platform-specific video creative best practices, including YouTube (skippable vs. non-skippable, bumpers), CTV, Upper Funnel paid social (Meta, TikTok, Pinterest), and other emerging digital video formats.
- Strong creative instincts with a focus on narrative clarity, conversion, audio-first pacing, and audience empathy.
- Experience working with graphic designers, motion designers, video editors, content creators, and on-set production teams to ship high volumes of video content.
- Familiarity with video testing methodologies, performance metrics (VTR, CTR, CPA, ROAS), and using data to guide creative video iterations.
- Strong organizational skills and the ability to prioritize and manage multiple video projects across different stakeholders, GTM timelines, and external partners.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to write high-converting video scripts, hooks, voiceover copy, and guide copywriters on performance-oriented copy.
- Comfort working in a hybrid, collaborative environment that values speed, curiosity, and creative video innovation.
- Experience with video creative automation platforms, dynamic creative optimization (DCO) video partners, or modular video content systems for the consistent production of a high volume of video assets.
- Prior experience in retail, home, or lifestyle categories.
- Interest and knowledge of cutting-edge technology such as AI-generated video tools, generative content, and AI voiceovers.
- Familiarity with creative tools (e.g., Figma, Adobe Premiere, After Effects) is a plus for providing clear timelines and design feedback, but this is not an editing or design role.
