Job Summary
Way Maker Plumbing & Heating is looking to add an experienced Journeyman Plumber to our team. This position is for a dependable, skilled plumber who can handle residential and light commercial plumbing work, communicate professionally with customers, and complete jobs correctly without constant supervision.
We are looking for someone who takes pride in clean work, shows up on time, treats customers with respect, and understands that quality workmanship protects both the customer and the company.
This is not an entry-level position. The right person should be able to diagnose plumbing issues, complete repairs and installs, follow Michigan plumbing code requirements, and document work properly.
Primary Responsibilities
- Perform residential and commercial plumbing service work, repairs, and installations.
- Diagnose plumbing issues and recommend proper repair solutions.
- Install, repair, and replace water heaters, fixtures, valves, water lines, drain lines, sump pumps, and related plumbing systems.
- Complete rough-in, trim-out, remodel, and service plumbing work as needed.
- Read job notes, scopes, photos, and work orders before starting work.
- Communicate clearly with customers regarding job progress, access needs, and basic findings.
- Maintain a clean and safe work area.
- Protect customer property during work.
- Follow applicable plumbing codes, safety requirements, and company standards.
- Properly document labor, materials, photos, and job notes in the company CRM.
- Coordinate with office staff, project managers, and other trades when needed.
- Assist with material lists and job planning.
- Maintain company vehicle, tools, and equipment in a clean and professional manner.
- Represent Way Maker Plumbing & Heating professionally in the field.
Required Qualifications
- Valid Michigan Journeyman Plumber License required.
- Minimum 3–5 years of plumbing experience.
- Strong knowledge of residential plumbing systems.
- Ability to work independently and complete jobs without constant supervision.
- Valid driver’s license and insurable driving record.
- Ability to pass a background check if required by job site or customer.
- Ability to lift, carry, bend, kneel, crawl, and work in tight spaces when needed.
- Ability to communicate professionally with homeowners, business owners, office staff, and other trades.
- Basic ability to use a smartphone, take job photos, enter notes, and use a CRM or scheduling app.
Preferred Experience
- Service plumbing experience.
- Residential remodel plumbing.
- Light commercial plumbing.
- Water heater installs and replacements.
- Sewer and drain repair experience.
- Boiler, hydronic, or heating experience is a plus but not required.
- Ability to help train apprentices or less experienced technicians.
Pay and Benefits
- $35.00–$50.00 per hour based on experience and qualifications.

Schedule
- Full-time.
