Position Overview
We are seeking an experienced and strategic Associate General Counsel to join Way.com's legal team. Reporting to the General Counsel, this role will provide essential legal guidance across the organization's diverse business operations, including fintech/payments, partnerships, regulatory compliance, and product development. The ideal candidate will be a skilled legal professional with strong business acumen, excellent communication abilities, and a proven track record managing complex legal matters in fast-paced, growth-oriented technology environments.
Key Responsibilities
- Draft, review, and negotiate commercial agreements, including vendor contracts, partnership agreements, service agreements, and licensing arrangements
- Provide legal counsel on fintech and payments compliance, including regulatory obligations and best practices
- Support the development and launch of new products and features, including product documentation and compliance review
- Advise on privacy, data protection, and information security matters, ensuring compliance with applicable laws and regulations
- Manage intellectual property matters, including trademark, copyright, and trade secret protection
- Monitor regulatory developments across relevant industries and jurisdictions; advise on legal risk mitigation
- Collaborate with Business Development, Product, and Finance teams on partnership negotiations and due diligence
- Manage litigation and dispute resolution matters; coordinate with external counsel when needed
Required Qualifications
- Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited law school; admitted to practice law in at least one U.S. jurisdiction
- 7 years of legal experience in corporate law, technology law, or related fields
- Strong experience with commercial contract negotiation and drafting
- Demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities and work independently
- Excellent written and oral communication skills
- Ability to explain complex legal concepts in business terms to non-legal stakeholders
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in fintech, payments, or financial services legal matters
- Experience with insurance or vehicle protection products
- Background in regulatory compliance or government affairs
- In-house legal experience at a technology or mobility company
- Experience working with venture capital or private equity-backed companies

This position is remote-flexible. Candidates should be based in the United States and able to work Pacific Time zone hours.
