Responsibilities
- Manage all aspects of pharmacy operations, including staffing, inventory control, and workflow optimization to ensure efficient service delivery.
- Lead patient consultations, medication therapy reviews, and assessments to promote optimal health outcomes.
- Oversee medication compounding, IV infusion preparation, and aseptic techniques to guarantee safety and accuracy.
- Utilize pharmacy software and electronic health record (EHR) systems to document patient interactions, prescriptions, and medical histories accurately.
- Ensure compliance with HIPAA regulations and maintain strict confidentiality of patient information at all times.
- Collaborate with healthcare providers on medical management plans, pain management strategies, and pediatric or critical care cases.
- Supervise pharmacy technicians, providing training in pharmacy software, inventory management, immunizations administration, and medication dispensing procedures.
- Conduct patient education on medication administration, physiology, anatomy, and medical terminology to enhance understanding and adherence.
- Maintain inventory levels for pharmaceuticals and compounded medications while managing procurement processes efficiently.
- Implement infection control protocols including proper aseptic techniques during compounding and IV insertions.
- Support the team in hospital or acute care settings by coordinating medication delivery and ensuring seamless patient care transitions.
Experience
- Proven experience in LTC (Long-Term Care) pharmacy or hospital/acute care environments with a strong background in clinical pharmacy practice.
- Critical care experience is highly preferred; familiarity with pain management protocols is a plus.
- Completion of a pharmacy residency program demonstrating advanced clinical skills.
- Extensive knowledge of medical management, immunizations, IV insertion techniques, and sterile compounding procedures.
- Hands-on experience with pharmacy software systems as well as EMR (Electronic Medical Records) or EHR (Electronic Health Records) platforms.
- Demonstrated ability to perform patient assessments effectively within diverse healthcare settings such as pediatrics or hospital units.
- Strong understanding of physiology, anatomy, medical terminology, and medication administration practices.
