Position OverviewThe Wireless Communications Engineer will provide advanced engineering expertise and field support for a diverse portfolio of private wireless networks. This role focuses on ensuring reliable communications performance, addressing interference challenges, and supporting mission-critical systems used for power system protection and operational reliability.Key ResponsibilitiesEvaluate, design, and optimize wireless communication systems across Wi-Fi, ISM-band mesh technologies, and licensed-frequency platforms.Troubleshoot and resolve day-to-day wireless performance issues, including coverage gaps, interference sources, equipment faults, and configuration anomalies.Conduct field assessments to validate RF coverage, system performance, and network integrity.Support the operation and enhancement of licensed wireless systems such as Land Mobile Radio (LMR), Private LTE (PLTE), and secure private gateway connections with public carriers.Ensure all wireless systems and deployments comply with Federal Communications Commission (FCC) regulations and industry standards.Collaborate with engineering, operations, and field teams to implement wireless solutions that support power-system protection, telemetry, and grid reliability.Prepare technical reports, design documentation, and recommendations based on system analysis and field findings.Provide technical leadership for wireless infrastructure upgrades, lifecycle planning, and technology integration initiatives.QualificationsMinimum of 10 years of experience working with private wireless communication networks in utility, industrial, or mission-critical environments.Strong technical background in:Wi-Fi standardsISM-band mesh technologiesLicensed wireless systems and frequency planningFCC regulatory requirements for wireless systemsDemonstrated experience solving complex RF engineering and interference issues in both laboratory and field environments.Working knowledge of LMR, PLTE, and secure private carrier gateway architectures.Ability to interpret RF propagation maps, spectrum analysis results, and wireless performance metrics.Strong analytical, communication, and cross-functional collaboration skills.
