Full job description
We are looking to hire a detail-oriented Bookkeeper or Accountant who is experienced with non-profit bookkeeping and accounting principles.
About the Role:
- Part-time, 20 - 25 hours per week, busy season of Jan – April may require up to 30 hrs
- In office at Waverly Child Care & Preschool
- 8 – 1 Monday through Thursday with Fridays as needed
- Reports to the Director of Business Operations
- After a review at 6 months and again at 12 months there is the potential to become full-time
What You’ll Do:
- Ensure Accuracy of WCCP Books
- Produce financial reports as needed for WCCP Directors and Board to fulfill their fiduciary oversight responsibilities
- Reconcile accounts monthly
- Prepare payroll and adjusting entries
- Prepare weekly invoices for families
- Prepare clean financials for tax prep
- Prepare w-2s during Tax season
- Communicate with clients to clarify transactions
- Prepare Annual Report
- Process vendor invoices
- Manage and apply employee benefits (PTO, Aflac, staff child care assistance, etc)
- Any other duties as needed as part of the Bookkeeping office
What We’re Looking For:
- Associates degree in accounting or business administration OR
- 3 years bookkeeping experience (2 years in non-profit work preferred)
- Reliable, proactive, and comfortable working independently
- Strong attention to detail — accuracy matters here
- Possess a knowledge and understanding of generally accepted principles and procedures for bookkeeping/accounting in both standard and non-profit sectors.
- Experience with Parishsoft or Procare accounting software is preferred

Must be cleared & and allowed to work in a childcare setting by the Iowa Department of Human Services
