Infrastructure Deployment Manager/Project Lead

Job Description

Overall Function: The Infrastructure Deployment Manager/Project Lead is responsible for providing technical leadership to a team of technicians and engineers deploying mission-critical hardware and supporting infrastructure at customer sites. The ideal candidate will be an experienced team leader, ideally in the infrastructure domain. Experience completing medium to large scale Wi-Fi, network hardware, and structured cabling deployments would be a significant advantage. They will be experienced in task and performance management as well as working directly with internal teams and customers to deliver projects to time, cost and quality requirements. The ideal applicant will understand project processes and their appropriate application. The successful applicant will be an excellent communicator and be willing to travel both domestically and internationally to customer sites to deliver projects.

Infrastructure Deployment Manager Roles and Responsibilities:

• Ensure all requirements specified in the project Statement of Work are understood and delivered upon
• Manage project schedule and task assignment of resources to tasks
• Manage multiple simultaneous tasks
• Manage conflicts between multiple tasks, customer and site constraints in order to deliver successful outcomes
• Ensure team member expectations are understood, providing timely feedback as needed
• Measure and monitor progress against project schedule, adjusting as required
• Responsible for ensuring that the project delivers against all cost, schedule and quality requirements
• Ensure that change to requirements is controlled, with appropriate escalations as needed to agree approval for Change Requests
• Complete daily reporting to both internal and external customers
• Act as the first point of escalation for any issues during the deployment, resolve problems and issues as they arise
• Maintain control of quality throughout the deployment, conduct regular and frequent reviews of work and initiate remediation action where required
• Ensure required documentation is collected and organized as required in support of contractual obligations
• Responsible for final Implementation sign off with customer
  
  

Travel: up to 100%

• Travel includes but is not limited to development and testing facilities, customer meeting sites, and ships for deployments.
  
  

Reporting Structure:

• The Infrastructure Deployment Manager will report directly to the Operations Manager.
  
  

Qualifications and Education Requirements:

• 5 years’ experience as a team leader in a technical field.
• 3 years’ experience working in a project driven environment with solid understanding of project lifecycle, processes and methodologies.
• Experience deploying projects on customer sites.
• Excellent communication (oral and written) and interface effectively with all levels of management as well as the technical team, and concisely, logically and accurately present issues verbally and in written format.
• Effectively coordinate communications between/among cross functional teams, resolve conflict and maintain confidentiality.
• Ability to work well with a wide variety of people with varying technical skill sets and business knowledge is required (from the very abstract to the very granular.)
• Strong problem-solving, supervisory experience and team leadership skills
• Strong “team player” with good interpersonal and collaborative skills
• Proven experience as a communicator, recognized for excellent communication skills.
• Effectively coordinate communications between/among cross functional teams, resolve conflict and maintain confidentiality.
• Excellent organizational, time management, judgment, and decision-making skills
• Reliable, self-motivated, and focused on high quality delivery of work products; willing to accept responsibility and accountability

• Experience in medium to large scale network infrastructure projects, including but not limited to:
• Wi-Fi
• Network – Switch (Chassis & Stackable), Routers, Firewalls, Network Appliances
• Data Centers – PDU, Inter-Rack Cabling, Server, Storage
• Cable Identification and Labelling
• Structured Cabling Systems
• Cable Testing Methods (CAT6/7 & Fiber Optic)
