Pay: $103k-$147k plus bonus

Location: Centerport, CT
The Process Manager will supervise chemical processes and production activities, ensure accurate batch documentation, support process optimization, and lead a team of Chemical Operators and Engineers. The ideal candidate is a strong problem solver who can analyze unexpected results, make sound technical decisions, drive production goals, and effectively communicate recommendations to both internal teams and customers.
Responsibilities:
- Lead and provide technical guidance to chemical operations teams supporting the manufacturing of specialty chemical products.
- Supervise the safe operation and control of both batch and continuous chemical processes.
- Troubleshoot process and equipment issues, identify root causes, implement solutions, and appropriately document process changes and disruptions.
- Perform chemical engineering analyses, including mass and energy balances, process calculations, and evaluation of experimental data.
- Apply knowledge of reaction kinetics, mixing, heat transfer, crystallization, isolation techniques, and unit operations to meet production objectives.
- Oversee and participate in equipment setup, repairs, modifications, and reconfigurations.
- Support the operation and troubleshooting of process control systems, including LabVIEW and SCADA platforms.
- Identify opportunities for process optimization, improved productivity, waste reduction, and safer, more sustainable manufacturing processes.
- Review process development, process safety, batch records, technical reports, and relevant scientific literature to support decision-making.
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering with 3 years of relevant experience, or Master’s/PhD in Chemical Engineering with 2 years of relevant experience.
- Strong chemical engineering background with experience in chemical manufacturing, process development, or chemical operations.
- Demonstrated ability to analyze data, identify unexpected or erroneous results, troubleshoot problems, and make sound technical decisions.
- Strong experience with material and energy balances and chemical engineering calculations.
- Extensive experience with the implementation, operation, and troubleshooting of chemical process equipment.
- Experience working with specialty chemicals or critical chemical products.
- Knowledge of batch and continuous chemical processing, including reaction kinetics, mixing, heat transfer, and process safety.
- Experience with process control systems such as LabVIEW and SCADA.
- Strong understanding of process safety principles, including PSM, MOC, and LOTO.
- Experience interpreting technical literature, process development reports, batch records, and historical process data.
- Ability to develop and maintain detailed operating procedures, batch records, schedules, and technical documentation.
- Strong computer skills, including Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
- Excellent analytical, organizational, project management, and communication skills.
- Ability to effectively lead, train, and mentor technical and operations personnel.
- Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively within a multidisciplinary team.
