We are seeking a Desktop Support Technician to join a leading life sciences company that supports pharmaceutical, biotech, and laboratory operations.
Pay: Up to $28/hr
Type: Contract (Can extend or convert)
Location: Batavia, IL
Key Responsibilities
- Provide support for PC, network, and server hardware and software, including MS Outlook, MS Office, Active Directory, virtual desktops, Cisco network hardware, PC imaging, application deployment, facility cabling, RF equipment, and other end-user applications and devices.
- Troubleshoot hardware, software, and network issues, escalating complex problems to Lead Administrators or management as needed.
- Assist with product evaluation, selection, deployment, testing, and implementation of new desktop packages and prototypes.
- Set up, deploy, configure, and support mobile devices.
- Monitor on-site IS systems, including backups, UPS, and server/network equipment.
- Provide remote IT support to facilities and associates.
- Maintain, support, and configure warehouse equipment, including printers, RF units, and terminals.
- Coordinate with external vendors for technical support and services.
- Conduct end-user training and learning sessions.
- Assist with technology planning, budgeting, technical documentation, and process improvement initiatives.
- Maintain spare equipment inventory and manage electronic waste.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- High school diploma required; Associate degree or technical school degree preferred.
- 1–2 years of experience providing IT/IS support.
- Working knowledge of Lotus Notes and LANDesk technologies.
- Strong troubleshooting, multitasking, and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent customer service and communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and prioritize multiple tasks and competing high-priority requests.
- Ability to adapt to a changing work environment.
- Ability to travel domestically and internationally up to 10–15% of the time.
