Wave Outdoors Landscape Design is a growing residential design-build firm focused on creating outdoor spaces that inspire connection, relaxation, and time spent outdoors. As our project volume continues to grow, we’re expanding our team and looking for an Assistant Project Manager – Purchaser to support our construction operations.

This role is ideal for someone with landscape construction knowledge who enjoys organization, vendor coordination, and being closely connected to the field.

The Assistant Project Manager – Purchaser is responsible for sourcing, ordering, and coordinating materials for active projects, ensuring everything arrives on time, on budget, and meets our quality standards.

This role plays a critical part in keeping projects moving — working closely with vendors, delivery, project managers, and field teams.

During the busy season, this role is heavily focused on purchasing and logistics. As the season slows, there is opportunity to take on additional project coordination responsibilities, contribute to process improvements, and support broader operational needs.

• Source and order materials, equipment, and services for active projects
• Create and manage purchase orders in JobTread
• Track orders from placement through delivery
• Communicate lead times, delays, and substitutions proactively

• Build and maintain strong relationships with suppliers
• Compare pricing and negotiate best value
• Stay informed on product availability and seasonal trends

• Coordinate daily deliveries and pickups with field and delivery teams
• Ensure materials are delivered to the correct locations and staged properly

• Conduct quality control checks on materials and plant deliveries
• Visit job sites and vendors multiple times per week to verify:
• Correct quantities
• Material quality
• Alignment with project specifications
• Communicate issues quickly and coordinate resolutions

• Monitor inventory across storage locations
• Identify reusable materials and reduce waste

• 3–5 years of experience in landscape construction, purchasing, or related field
• Strong knowledge of:
• Hardscape and paver materials
• Plant material and garden installations
• Basic carpentry and construction materials
• Highly organized with strong attention to detail
• Comfortable managing multiple projects and priorities
• Strong communication skills with vendors and internal teams
• Tech-savvy (Google Workspace, JobTread or similar tools)
• Must live in Illinois and be able to travel to job sites and vendors regularly
• Valid driver’s license

This role is a core part of our operations team, with opportunities to expand responsibilities over time based on business needs and individual strengths. This may include additional coordination, process improvement work, or broader project support — particularly during slower seasons.
