Part-time role!

Responsible for organizing and supervising the safe and sanitary service of meals and activities at assigned senior dining center. Will provide general nutrition program assistance throughout the county with training and quality assurance standards, special event dining experiences, home delivered meal assessment coordination, and related program support.

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:

1. Will help to establish standards and train to assure a welcoming dining experience at each location throughout the county. Assists with training of new dining center managers.

2. Provides annual dining site inspections, assuring that each location is clean, food areas are sanitized, and sites are set up according to program guidelines.

3. Will schedule activities at assigned site and coordinate and assist with special event dining experiences and “pop-up” programming throughout the county.

4. Responsible for the proper and timely service of meals, assuring overall food presentation and quality.

5. Responsible for food safety activities including testing and recording temperatures of food, washing utensils, dishes and surfaces, and disposing of garbage appropriately.

6. Recruits, schedules, and instructs volunteers in various functions associated with the dining center operation and assures that proper sanitation guidelines are followed appropriately.

7. Performs outreach activities to recruit new participants to the dining center.

8. Maintains accurate records of required program data and submits to office in a timely fashion. Will assist with overview of monthly paperwork from other dining center locations.

9. Counts and handles money received for meals and records, secures, and deposits according to policy.

10. Observes participants for possible problems, responds to emergencies, and reports incidents according to policy and in a timely manner. Make referrals for assistance when appropriate.

11. Will assist with coordination details of home delivered meal assessments, and will complete both in-person and by phone assessments directly.

12. Coordinates the distribution of the department’s monthly newsletter throughout the county.

13. Attend all assigned meetings, training, and emergency preparedness efforts as assigned.

14. Performs other related job duties as assigned.

WORKING ELEMENTS:

A.

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • ServSafe certification (or equivalent), or ability to become certified within 6 months of employment.
  • Up to one year of related food-handling experience.
  • Experience in leadership, volunteer management, and first aid/CPR training desired.

B.

Demonstrates the ability to be empathetic and patient with older adults or individuals with disabilities, and to communicate in a non-judgmental manner.

Knowledge of or ability to learn, comprehend, retain, and apply information to perform duties.

Ability to effectively implement safety and sanitary processes for proper food service techniques.

Ability to assume a leadership role, recruit and manage volunteers, motivate participants to join in activities, and communicate effectively.

Ability to understand and follow program policies and procedures independent of direct supervision.

Ability to solve problems and to recognize and effectively manage emergency situations.

Ability to learn and use defibrillators where present.

Ability to maintain confidentiality of program participants.

Must be able to hold and maintain a valid Wisconsin driver’s license or to secure transportation to work and to attend meetings and trainings.

C.

Works under the direct supervision of the Nutrition Program Manager.

Responsible for regular and predictable attendance.

Responsible to accept responsibility and exercise independent judgment.

Responsible for complying with applicable federal, state, and local laws and administrative rules, established agency procedures, and accepted professional standards.

Responsible for working harmoniously, constructively, and cooperatively with other professionals, clients, their families, community service providers, and other members of the public.

D.

Moderate standing; bending, stooping, reaching and lifting/transferring.

Ability to lift or transfer food containers that may weigh up to 30 pounds.

Moderate travel to other dining center locations and for in-home meal assessments.

Pay: $14.55 - $15.50 per hour
