What are the responsibilities and job description for the Manager - Family Liaison position at Waukegan Community Unit District 60?
- Promote school and district initiatives, programs, events to engage students and improve student attendance.
- Plan and coordinate school events with building staff to engage parents (before and after school) and improve attendance.
- Meet with families and school personnel to identify root causes of poor attendance
- Review attendance data regularly and work with classroom teachers and administration to improve student attendance.
- Consistently implement interventions to assist students/families in attendance improvement, including conflict resolution.
- Maintain communication with District truancy officers.
- Support struggling students with mentoring/skill building/check-and-connect or other interventions while at school.
- Facilitate attendance probation, ROE referrals, etc to support improved attendance
- Assist Building Admin in creating a welcoming environment
- Communicate effectively orally and in writing with families, students, staff members, and the community.
- Serve on the MTSS Targeted and Intensive Team.
- Assist schools with communication, including website, and social media
- Assist school personnel in their efforts to make referrals to community agencies;
- Attend school, district or community meetings in support of improved attendance/school engagement.
- Support the PTO and other parent groups.
- Bachelor's Degree, PEL preferred.
- Experience working with at-risk populations, preferred.
- Good communication skills, verbal and written.
- Strong work ethic, self-motivated.
