HydraFab is a precision manufacturing company specializing in hydraulics and general fabrication for the mining industry. We are seeking an experienced and motivated CNC Machinist/Programmer to join our team.
Job Summary
We are looking for a skilled CNC Machinist who can independently set up, operate, and program both CNC lathes and CNC vertical/horizontal milling centers. The ideal candidate is proficient in SOLIDWORKS (including SOLIDWORKS CAM or CAMWorks) for 3D modeling, fixture design, and generating CNC programs from start to finish. A strong mechanical background is preferred.
Key Responsibilities
· Read and interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, and GD&T specifications
· Study sample parts and engineering information in order to determine methods and sequences of operations needed to fabricate products and determine product dimensions and tolerances
· Create 3D models, assemblies, and detailed drawings in SOLIDWORKS
· Generate efficient CNC programs using SOLIDWORKS CAM / CAMWorks for 2-axis turning as dwell as 3-, and 4-axis milling
· Select appropriate tooling, speeds, feeds, and cutting strategies to optimize cycle times and tool life
· Set up and operate CNC lathes and CNC mills (3- and 4-axis)
· Perform in-process inspections using precision measuring instruments (micrometers, calipers, bore gages, etc.)
· Edit programs at the machine control (Fanuc) as needed
· Design and fabricate work-holding fixtures and custom tools when required
· Ability to create precision parts with manual lathes, mills and horizontal boring machines when necessary
· Troubleshoot machining issues and implement process improvements
· Clean and lubricate machines, tools, and equipment in order to remove grease, rust, stains, and foreign matter.
· Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work environment
Required Qualifications
· 3-5 years of hands-on CNC/manual machining experience on both lathes and mills
· Proficiency in SOLIDWORKS (modeling, assemblies, drawings)

· Strong experience programming complex parts from solid models (not just 2D prints)
· Proven ability to set up and run tight-tolerance parts (±0.0005" or better)
· Excellent understanding of GD&T and metrology
· Strong work ethic, attention to detail, and problem-solving skills
· Ability to work independently and as part of a team
· Must pass drug test on random basis if requested
Preferred Skills
· Experience with up to 4-axis milling and turning machines
· CAMWORKS or other CAM software knowledge
· Fixture design experience
· Basic manual machining skills (engine lathe, bridgeport, horizontal boring machines)
Education
· High school diploma or GED required
· Technical school, apprenticeship, or associate degree in machining/manufacturing strongly preferred
