Watts is a multi-disciplinary architecture and engineering (A/E) firm providing architecture, civil, environmental, transportation, and construction monitoring services with offices in Buffalo, Rochester, Syracuse and New York City. We have an immediate opening for a Mid-Level Asbestos Inspector/Investigator in our NYC office. The firm operates with a flexible schedule but one that understands the needs of our clients and their deadlines. The candidate will be an integral part of a dedicated environmental department team supporting clients involving building renovation and demolition projects throughout the downstate area. Established clients include various city, state and federal agencies for projects at Colleges, Universities, Education, and Health Facilities.

Responsibilities And Duties
- Perform inspections for asbestos-containing materials, and prepare reports based on findings
- Be comfortable interpreting, NYC DEP Title 15, NYS ICR 56 and other applicable regulations
- Be dependable and able to work independently and be a team player
- Possess initiative to problem solve
- Hold current NYC DEP asbestos investigator and NYS DOL asbestos inspector certifications. Candidates who possess a NYS DOL asbestos inspector certification with a demonstrated ability to obtain the NYC DEP asbestos investigator within 6 months of hire may be considered.
- Candidates with a B.S. degree in environmental sciences, engineering or similar disciplines are preferred.
- Additional certifications as a Project Monitor, Project Designer, EPA Lead Inspector or Risk Assessor certifications and 40-Hour HAZWOPER are a plus
- Have at least two years of experience in the building hazmat inspection field.
- Have experience with filing ACP forms with NYC DEP ARTS.
- Experience working with NYC agencies (Port Authority, NYCHHC, DCAS, MTA, etc.) preferred.
- Be familiar with pertinent asbestos federal, state and local regulations and specifically with NYS ICR 56 and NYC DEP Title 15, Chapter 1 of the Rules of the City of New York.
- Be familiar with OSHA regulations and requirements.
- Be self-motivated, reliable, detail oriented, and show ability to use sound judgment.
- Be familiar with standard word processing and spreadsheet computer programs. Possess a vehicle which they will use to travel to the work sites, within the five-boroughs of NYC and Husdon Valley area.
