Maintenance Assistant – Full-Time 1.0 – Varied Shift
Position Summary: Under the general direction of the Director of Facilities, the Maintenance Assistant’s primary responsibility will be to patch and paint walls throughout the facility. The Maintenance Assistant will also assist Maintenance Engineers as instructed with minor plumbing repairs, cleaning coils and air handler units, replacing filters, transporting and stocking materials, tools and supplies, completing work orders and preventive maintenance checklists.
Education:
- High School Graduate or equivalent.
- Must have the ability to read, write and understand English.
Experience:
- Must be familiar with tools and their use.
- Knowledge of computers.
- Mechanical systems experience desired.
Licenses/Certificates:
- None required.
POSITION SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES
Completes painting projects to include, but not limited to:
- Refinish doors and woodwork
- Paint new and existing walls
- Tape and texture walls
- Care and maintenance of painting equipment and supplies
Assists Maintenance Engineers with repairs and maintenance of plumbing equipment including, but not limited to:
- Medical gas system and piping network
- Drainage and sewage disposal systems
- Domestic hot water system
- Heating and chilled water loops
- Compressed air piping system
- Steam piping and condensate return lines
- Commodes, sinks and showers
Assists Maintenance Engineers with repairs and maintenance of equipment including, but not limited to:
- Blanket warmers
- Wheelchairs
- Gurneys
- Beds
- Furniture
- Walkers
- Other related equipment
Assists Maintenance Engineers with work requests including, but not limited to:
- Pulling wire
- Replacing lights
- Hanging pictures/dispensers
- Clearing plugged toilets and sinks
Assists Maintenance Engineers with maintenance of air handlers and coils including, but not limited to:
- Cleaning units
- Replacing filters as required
- Completes work orders and preventive maintenance checklists as assigned.
- Demonstrate ability to research needed parts and part numbers.
- Demonstrate the ability to use hand and power tools in the proper manner for designated function.
- Other duties as assigned.
