Health Unit Coordinator/HUC (Unit Secretary) - Part Time - 0.7; Night Shift - Telemetry Department
Position Summary: Under the leadership of the Chief Nursing Officer, Nurse Director, House Supervisor, Charge Nurse, or Staff Nurse, the Health Unit coordinator will coordinate all incoming and outgoing calls, ensuring prompt and appropriate communication to meet patient care needs. Responsible for chart completion, charges for patient short stays and transfers, and order entry as directed. Recognizes the importance of meeting customer expectations and demonstrates a positive attitude and efficient use of resources, and performs related duties as necessary to fulfill the customer’s needs. Performs duties according to the mission, philosophy, policies and procedures of Watsonville Community Hospital.
- Education:
- High School Diploma or GED preferred. Ward clerk Program with certificate of completion (preferred)
- Experience:
- 1 year's experience in medical field in last 3 years (preferred).
- Demonstrate competency in medical terminology.
- Basic keyboard knowledge with willingness to develop computer competency in 6 months.
- Fundamental math skills.
- Ability to speak and write English.
- Bilingual Spanish/English competency required for individuals hired or transferred into HUC role after 8/1/13.
- Licenses and/or Certifications:
- AHA Healthcare Provider CPR (within 1 month of hire/transfer).
