ER Tech/Emergency Room - Part Time (0.7 - 56 Hours Per Pay Period), Day Shift - 0830-1700 (8:30am - 5:00pm)
Position Summary: The Emergency Department Technician (ER Tech) functions semi-independently, under the direction of the medical provider and Registered Nurse, as part of the integrated healthcare team. The ER Tech performs routine patient care, support, and services in accordance with the legal scope of practice and within established standards of care, policies, and procedures. This position integrates education, technical competence, and patient interaction skills to offer the best patient care.
Education, Certifications/Licensure, and Experience:
Required:
- EMT I License required;
- American Heart Association Healthcare Provider BCLS required.
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- Emergency Medical Technician Certification
- Basic Life Support/Basic Cardiac Life Support
- Previous experience in an Emergency Department, Ambulance, or other relevant pre-hospital setting
Preferred:
- Prior experience in physicians' office, acute care, urgent care, or emergency department
- Fluent in Spanish
- EKG competency
- Medical Terminology

- Strong knowledge of emergency medical procedures, protocols, and techniques
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to effectively interact with patients, families, and healthcare professionals

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Under the direction of ED providers, RNs, and Charge Nurses, provide appropriate medical care to patients in the ED
- Assess patients’ conditions, prioritize their needs, and initiate appropriate medical interventions
- Administer basic life support measures, including CPR, wound care, immobilization, and splinting
- Assist providers in setting up for, and performing medical procedures in the ED
- Assist in the transfer of patients to specialized units
- Obtain and monitor patient’s vital signs and communicate any significant changes to the medical team
- Collaborate with nurses, physicians, and other healthcare professionals to ensure seamless patient care
- Maintain and restock emergency medical equipment and supplies
- Adhere to hospital policies, protocols, and safety guidelines to ensure a safe and effective work environment
- Coordinate and facilitate physician consultations and patient transfers Other duties as assigned
