Watsontown Brick, a General Shale brand, is seeking a Quality Control Technician for our Columbia, South Carolina manufacturing facility. Founded in 1908, Watsontown Brick produces residential, commercial, and architectural clay brick products across three manufacturing sites with unique extruded and molded brick capabilities.
This role is ideal for a detail-oriented individual who takes pride in quality, consistency, and data-driven decision-making within a manufacturing environment.
Position Overview:
The Quality Control Technician is responsible for testing raw materials and finished products to ensure compliance with General Shale and ASTM standards. This position supports all stages of production—raw materials, manufacturing, and packaging—and plays a critical role in maintaining product quality and customer satisfaction.
Key Responsibilities:

Test raw materials and finished products to ensure compliance with General Shale and ASTM standards

Conduct quality testing throughout all stages of production

Document and analyze test results to verify conformance to specifications

Prepare and ship product samples to General Shale sales locations, customers, and third-party testing facilities

Maintain accurate records and testing documentation

Support continuous improvement initiatives related to product quality
Qualifications:

High school diploma or GED required

Quality control certification preferred

Strong mathematical and analytical skills

Basic computer proficiency

Ability to operate, or willingness to learn to operate, a forklift
