Responsibilities
- Engage with customers in person and via phone to understand their project needs and recommend suitable lumber and building materials
- Demonstrate product features through product demos and explain technical details clearly to diverse customer groups
- Utilize sales techniques such as upselling and negotiation to maximize sales opportunities while ensuring customer satisfaction
- Manage inside sales transactions including POS operations, cash handling, and retail math calculations with accuracy
- Maintain organized stock levels, merchandising displays, and ensure the availability of high-demand products
- Support marketing efforts by promoting new products, seasonal items, and special promotions to boost store traffic and sales
Requirements
- Proven experience in outside sales, retail sales, or inside sales within construction, renovation, or lighting industries is highly preferred
- Strong communication skills in English; multilingual abilities are a plus for serving diverse customer bases
- Knowledge of construction materials, remodeling processes, lighting sales
- Ability to perform basic math calculations accurately for retail math, pricing, and stock management purposes
- Excellent organizational skills to handle stocking, merchandising, and product demos efficiently
- Experience with POS systems, cash handling procedures, and retail math is desirable
- A proactive attitude with strong negotiation skills and the ability to upsell effectively while maintaining excellent customer service standards
