SUMMARY

This position is responsible for assisting in various educational settings. This position serves as the lead contact/facilitator for the WCHS credit recovery program as well as supports literacy and instruction as the WCHS/WJHS library aide. 

Qualifications

  • Professional Educator License OR Substitute License from ROE OR Paraprofessional License through the Illinois State Board of Education OR successful completion of sixty (60) semester hours of college or university coursework; or hold an Associate’s (or higher) college degree; or successfully pass the ACT WorkKeys Assessment Test or the ETS Paraprofessional Assessment Test along with a high school diploma or its equivalent.
  • Must have excellent Oral and Written communication skills to work with teachers, education support personnel, building administrators and the general public.
  • Enforce school regulations and policies in a professional manner.
  • Ability to maintain good working relationships with fellow employees and pupils.
  • Must be able to lift and carry up to 50 lbs.
  • Requires employees to have the ability to push/pull up to 10 lbs.

 DUTIES

 

Facilitate the district's online credit recovery program by providing daily supervision and instructional support to students.

  1. Serve as the primary on-site contact for students enrolled in the credit recovery program.
  2. Monitor student progress, assignment completion, attendance, and pacing to ensure students remain on track toward course completion.
  3. Provide individualized academic assistance, encouragement, and intervention to support student success within the online learning environment.
  4. Assist students with navigating the online learning platform and troubleshooting basic technology or program-related issues.
  5. Maintain accurate records of student progress, completion status, and intervention efforts.
  6. Communicate regularly with building administrators regarding student progress, concerns, attendance, and program effectiveness.
  7. Contact parents/guardians to provide updates, encourage student engagement, and communicate concerns related to attendance, participation, or academic progress.
  8. Reinforce district expectations for student behavior, attendance, and academic integrity within the credit recovery classroom.
  9. Assist with enrollment, orientation, and exit procedures for students entering or completing the credit recovery program.
  10. Encourage students to develop effective study habits, time management skills, and self-advocacy.
  11. Maintain confidentiality of student information in accordance with district policy and applicable state and federal laws.
  12. Assist students and staff with checking out, renewing, and returning library materials.
  13. Manage the circulation of student Chromebooks and other assigned technology, including checkout, return, and basic inventory tracking.
  14. Maintain accurate library circulation records and student accounts using the district's library management system.
  15. Organize, shelve, and maintain library materials to ensure an orderly, welcoming, and accessible learning environment.
  16. Assist in maintaining the library catalog and database by processing new materials, updating records, and removing outdated resources as needed.
  17. Support students in locating books, digital resources, and reference materials appropriate to their academic needs and interests.
  18. Provide guidance to students in conducting research and accessing reliable print and digital information sources.
  19. Promote responsible use of library materials, technology, and learning resources.
  20. Assist with inventory, organization, and maintenance of library collections and equipment.
  21. Collaborate with teachers to support classroom instruction by locating and preparing instructional materials and resources.
  22. Maintain a positive, organized, and student-centered library environment that encourages reading, inquiry, and lifelong learning.
  23. Report damaged or lost library materials and technology to the appropriate administrator and assist with recordkeeping.

SCHEDULING 

 

The work hours for this position vary. The schedule is subject to change with district demands. Generally, this position works only on days when school is in session and the hours begin at or near the start of the school day and end at or near dismissal time. It is preferred that this position completes credit recovery duties in the morning and library aide duties in the afternoon.
