Job Summary
Watkins Grand Island is hiring a Site Operations Manager to supervise and direct operations and employees for the Grand Island or Kearney location. This person will ensure production and all associated activities meet the demands of the location. Must abide by Company Safety Program and Policies, while performing duties safely.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:


Assures site plant operations, production and distribution are completed in accordance with policies, principles, and procedures established by the department/company.

Performs a broad range of supervisory responsibilities over subordinate staff and within the site.

Looks for ways to improve operations, decrease turnaround time, streamline work processes and work cooperatively to provide good customer service.

Documents, develops, implements, and manages policies, procedures, and cost controls to ensure accurate and efficient procurement and purchasing operations.

Oversees the required procurement and purchasing processes the purpose of acquiring necessary resources to support timely operations for Watkins Sales and support.

Conducts assessments of procurement needs based on usage patterns, maintenance schedules, and project forecasts.

Collaborates with internal stakeholders, including NEBCO Procurement Manager, to understand procurement needs and requirements.

Oversees and communicates with warehouse manager on receiving, storing, inventorying and shipping materials to ensure effective and efficient customer service, operations and material transportation.

Develops and recommends budgets to management.

Maintains and directs the department safety campaign and assure standards are met by observing and monitoring objects, data and people's behavior.

Other duties may be assigned.

 

Supervisory Responsibilities: 

This job provides supervisory responsibilities for administrative support staff and warehouse staff. 


Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Management, or related field; and
  • 5 years of experience managing business operations and teams; or
  • equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations:

  • Valid Driver's License

Other Skills & Abilities                                           

  • Must have a proven track record of increasing responsibility and results in operations and leadership. 
  • Must understand practices of effective supervision and foster a cooperative work environment.
  • Previous personnel scheduling experience is helpful but not necessary. 
  • Must have a good overall technical knowledge of site operations, safety, training, compliance, equipment and construction projects.
  • Must be able to read and understand operations manuals, equipment instructions, safety rules, etc. and write reports and communicate with management and subordinates to solve problems, provide instruction, etc.
  • Knowledge of Order processing systems; Payroll systems; Spreadsheet software and Word Processing software.

 

Supervisory Responsibilities: 

The position carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

Education and/or Experience:  

  • Bachelor's degree with emphasis in Sales, Business, Marketing, Finance, or related field; and
  • five years related sales experience, in construction and design consulting sales skills and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. 

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations:

  • Valid driver's license and be insurable with the company driver policy.

 

Other Qualifications:

  • Previous sales and marketing experience in a construction related industry is preferred.
  • Specific experience creating strategic solutions with product and Marketing is necessary. 
  • Management experience required with emphasis in managing a sales department, scheduling, maintaining and evaluating personnel.
  • Strong leadership and influential skills in a team environment is a must.
  • Proven abilities to develop and maintain business relationships and apply negotiation skills.
  • Ability to understand, conceptualize and persuade customers on the benefits of company related products that will meet their needs and add value to the end result. 
  • Skilled in relationship management and results delivery where excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to lead and motivate others has achieved results. 
  • Must have computer skills to maintain customer data base and assure information is up to date and accurate.  CRM system knowledge and  Microsoft Office skills very helpful-Word and Excel.
  • Must be a self-starter and independent performer.
  • Ability to use quantitative skills to analyze product and production based on sales goals and customer orders and able to analyze market sales data and make recommendations

Other Skills and Abilities:

  • Must be able to maintain good customer service with ability to develop a strong customer base and maintain ongoing business relationships. 
  • Must have excellent demonstrated management skills. 
  • Must be detail oriented with an ability to coordinate multiple tasks at one time. 
  • Must be flexible with work schedule with ability to work weekends and evenings based on business needs or customer requests. Some overnight travel may be required.
  • Must have good people skills. 
  • Ability to read and interpret technical documents and able to write routine reports and correspondence. 
  • Must be thorough in verbal and written communication skills to assure all aspects of the project are documented. 
  • Ability to solve complex problems and able to deal with a variety of situations related to managing and motivating employees.
