Responsibilities
- Prepare and cook menu items according to standardized recipes, ensuring quality and presentation standards are met
- Assist in menu planning by providing input on ingredient availability and preparation techniques
- Operate various kitchen equipment safely, including ovens, grills, slicers, and food processors
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of workstations, adhering to strict food safety and sanitation standards
- Handle food with care, following proper food handling procedures to prevent contamination
- Collaborate closely with kitchen staff to coordinate meal preparation and ensure timely service
- Follow safety standards in production areas, including knife skills and slicing techniques for efficient food prep
Qualifications
- Previous experience in a food service environment, preferably as a line cook or dietary aide in a restaurant or healthcare setting
- Strong knowledge of food safety management practices and adherence to safety standards in production
- Skilled in food preparation techniques such as slicing, chopping, and portioning ingredients accurately
- Experience operating kitchen equipment safely and efficiently
- Excellent communication skills for effective teamwork with kitchen staff and front-of-house personnel
- Familiarity with menu planning, recipe adherence, and meal preparation processes
- Ability to work quickly under pressure while maintaining high standards of cleanliness and quality
