What are the responsibilities and job description for the South Elementary Young 5’s Position position at Watervliet Public Schools?
What You Will Do:
- Develops strong, positive relationships with students and their families
- Adapt curriculum materials and classroom work to meet the needs of students as needed
- Administer assessments (classroom, district, etc.)
- Lead small group instruction to improve student success in academics
- Manage student behavior and provide a safe and orderly learning environment
- Model appropriate verbal communication to help students develop/improve their skills
- Participate in professional learning activities
- Monitor student activities in and around the school to ensure the safety of every student in the classroom, in the cafeteria, and on the playground
- Carry out responsibilities with little or no prompting.
- Demonstrate professional behavior in manner and appearance.
- Work cooperatively with building staff.
- Regular, timely, and predictable attendance
Need to Have:
- Bachelor in teaching or be currently enrolled in an alternative certification program.
- Able to assess and document student progress
- Professional in personal conduct and actions
- Strong organizational, classroom management, collaboration and communication skills
- Ability to establish and maintain positive working relationships with young children, parents, staff, administration, and the general public
- Demonstrated competence in the use of technology
- Active and continuous learner in the area of elementary education, research-based instructional strategies
