Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) to join our healthcare team at Watertown Urgent. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in patient care across various settings including acute care, and community health. This role offers an opportunity to work with diverse patient populations, including pediatric, adult medicine and geriatrics. The LPN will play a vital role in providing high-quality nursing care while adhering to HIPAA and other healthcare standards.
Duties
- Conduct comprehensive patient assessments, including vital signs, physical examinations, and health history documentation using EMR/EHR systems such as Medent.
- Administer medications and injections accurately following physician orders and protocols.
- Assist with diagnostic evaluations such as lab specimen collection/processing.
- Provide wound care including suturing and dressing changes; monitor for signs of infection or complications.
- Educate patients and families on health coaching topics such as nutrition, medication management, and disease prevention.
- Ensure compliance with infection control protocols and maintain accurate medical records in accordance with HIPAA regulations.
Requirements
- Valid Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) license in the state of practice.
- Familiarity with EMR/EHR systems such as Medent.
- Knowledge of medical terminology related to internal medicine, surgical procedures, infectious disease care, pain management, and specialty areas like ophthalmology or dermatology.
- Ability to perform physical examinations and diagnostic evaluations accurately; skilled in venipuncture, phlebotomy, catheter care, and sterile processing techniques.
- Strong understanding of HIPAA compliance and medical documentation standards.
- Certifications in Basic Life Support (BLS) required; additional certifications such as ACLS or PALS are advantages.
- Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively within a healthcare team; excellent communication skills are essential.
