NIGHT CUSTODIAN – Full-Time

JOB LOCATION: Watertown High School

HOURS: 2:30 p.m. – 11:00 p.m. (Hours may periodically include evenings and weekends for special events and emergencies)

DAYS: Monday – Friday; 12-month position

PAY RATE: $19.36 per hour starting rate (Grade F, Step 1)

QUALIFICATIONS: Applicants must:

· Be drug-free;

· Be able to repetitively lift 50 – 75 lbs. on a daily basis;

· Have consistent attendance in previous employment;

· Be able to accept direction and work independently;

· Be on time and have a history of being a diligent worker;

· Possess personal pride in maintaining the school in a safe and attractive manner!

· Valid Wisconsin driver’s license is preferred.

JOB DESCRIPTION: Night custodians perform a wide variety of duties including but not limited to:

· Clean classrooms daily in assigned areas and dust furniture;

· Clean corridors during his/her daily shift;

· Disinfect toilet floors daily and clean all sanitary fixtures and drinking fountains daily;

· Wash all windows on both the inside and outside as needed;

· Keep the grounds free from rubbish;

· Keep all floors in a clean, safe, and attractive condition:

· Clean dry erase boards as needed;

· Make such minor building repairs as he/she is capable of in his/her areas. Turn in maintenance requests for repairs he/she is unable to do;

· Report major repairs needed promptly to the Supervisor of Buildings and Grounds;

· Report immediately to the Supervisor of Buildings and Grounds any damage to school property;

· Remain on the school premises during assigned hours, and during non-school hours when the use of the building has been authorized and his/her attendance is requested by the Supervisor of Buildings and Grounds;

· Assume responsibility for securing the building each day and for determining, before leaving, that all doors and windows will be secured, and all lights, except those left on for safety reasons, are turned off;

· Move furniture or equipment within buildings as required for various activities and as directed by the Building Principal or Supervisor;

· Comply with laws and procedures for the storage and disposal of trash, rubbish and waste;

· Comply with all district safety practices and proper use of cleaning chemicals and equipment;

· Keep building and premises, including sidewalks, neat and clean at all times.

· Check daily to insure that all exit doors in assigned areas are open as required and all panic bars are working properly during the hours of building occupancy;

· Conduct an ongoing program of general maintenance, upkeep, and repair in his/her area;

· Shovel and/or salt walks and steps, as appropriate;

· Perform any miscellaneous tasks assigned by the Building Principal or the Supervisor of Buildings and Grounds whether verbal or written.

The Watertown School District has an enrollment of approximately 3,000 students taught in seven buildings.

THE COMMUNITY: The Watertown community has 24,000 residents and is located on the Rock River approximately halfway between Madison and Milwaukee, at the junction of Highways 16, 19, and 26.
