ADVANCED LEARNER INSTRUCTIONAL PARAPROFESSIONAL
LOCATION: Webster Elementary School
START DATE: Start date: August 25, 2026 (meetings), September 1, 2026 (orientation)
HOURS: 5.75 hours/day, Schedules vary depending on the needs of the students
SALARY RATE: $19.36 per hour - Grade F – Step 1
JOB DESCRIPTION: This role provides direct instructional support and extension services for students identified as Advanced or Gifted Learners. The position reports to the building principal and works under the direction of the Advanced Learning Coordinator, ensuring a cohesive and rigorous educational experience for high-potential students. This individual facilitates complex learning experiences that extend beyond the standard grade-level curriculum.
The job duties of paraprofessionals vary depending on the needs of the teachers and students. This position involves (but is not limited to):
· Advanced Literacy: Lead groups focused on high-level, nuanced vocabulary, verbal reasoning through complex analogies, and rigorous textual analysis of advanced literature and persuasive writing.
· Advanced Mathematics: Facilitate math groups that accelerate student thinking beyond repetitive arithmetic. Adjust instruction based on student developmental levels to shift from concrete operations to abstract problem-solving, structural mathematical modeling, and advanced strategic thinking.
· Building-Wide Academic Enrichment: Lead and promote specialized school-wide programs—including creative writing anthologies, structured reading incentives, student leadership initiatives, and open-access extension activities—to challenge and engage all students.
QUALIFICATONS: This position requires the candidate to have a high school diploma in addition to meeting “highly qualified” standards of of the following:
· Two years or more of study at an institute of higher education (completion of 48 semester hours or equivalent of trimester hours), Associate or higher degree,
· Passing a test to demonstrate the knowledge of and ability to assist in the instruction of reading, writing, and mathematics.
Qualified candidates should possess:
· An understanding of gifted students and the joys (and challenges) of working with them;
· A passion for working with elementary-aged students;
· A positive attitude that will contribute to a welcoming atmosphere;
· Strong communication skills to promote positive relationships between students, families and school staff;
· Excellent attendance history in previous employment.

The Watertown School District has an enrollment of approximately 3,000 students taught in seven buildings.
Webster Elementary School is a 4K – 5th Grade building with an enrollment of 415 students.
THE COMMUNITY: The Watertown community has 24,000 residents and is located on the Rock River approximately halfway between Madison and Milwaukee, at the junction of Highways 16, 19, and 26.
