Job Summary:
The Watertown Housing Authority (WHA) is seeking an experienced, highly motivated, creative and responsible social worker for the role of temporary part-time Elderly Program Case Manager. This position will provide services to 325 units of state-aided affordable housing for older adults and individuals with disabilities across three sites.
This position is funded by a federal HOME ARP grant that is expected to fund the position through Spring 2027. This role utilizes case management and therapeutic interventions to stabilize the housing of our residents. This position will be a part of our Resident Services Department made up of two full-time social workers, and two MSW intern students.
Key Responsibilities:
- Outreach and engage tenant population in WHA’s Elderly Disabled housing including but not limited to:
- Office hours for tenants to access resources
- Workshops & groups
- Support and stabilize new move in residents
- One to one client support
- Perform clinical assessments when required and develop individualized action plans, including goals and a means of monitoring progress.
- Utilize motivational interviewing and other evidence-based modalities to assist residents in meeting the identified needs.
- Respond to crisis referrals, providing written documentation of incident and intervention
- Provide case management services, including, but not limited to, issues with housekeeping and hoarding behaviors, eviction-prevention, household budgeting and economic self-sufficiency, arrangement of transportation for social and personal needs, referrals and linkages to community resources.
- Maintain a high level of confidentiality as it relates to direct client care.
- Provide benefit and insurance consultation to residents
- Develop and implement recreational programming to address social isolation
- Attend pertinent meetings, conferences, workshops, or any other relevant trainings.
- Support the Watertown Housing Authority and Watertown Housing Development Corporation staff in all matters related to tenant case management and social services. Maintain tenant records and Resident Services Department records
- Support Director of Resident Services in annual grant reporting and annual internal reporting.
- Perform other related duties as required or requested.
- Track client outcomes and interventions for the purpose of federal grant reporting.
Qualifications: Knowledge & Skills Requirements:
- Carry a Bachelors or Masters in social work
- Minimum 5 years relevant work experience
- Candidates must have personal transportation as well as a Massachusetts driver’s license.
- A candidate that can communicate in a second language is highly preferred.
- The candidate should have strong skills in working cross culturally.
- Excellent organizational, time management and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent computer, social media, and internet skills are required.
- Excellent written and verbal skills required.
- Ability to pass a Criminal Background Check.
Working Conditions:
This position does not offer remote work.
In person three days a week; for 18 hours a week. Working hours are flexible given the needs of the community. Later evenings may be required for events.

Pay range: $60-$65 an hour for 18 hours a week Monday, Wednesday, Fridays
Salary for this position ranges from the “base” rate of pay (as listed above)—for someone with the minimum required credentials. Adjustments up from the base rate of pay could include such factors as years of related experience externally, educational background, additional language fluency, and/or particular areas of expertise.
