Job Title: Classroom Teacher
Work Days: 8:00 AM – 4:00 PM
Reports To: Building Principal
REQUIREMENTS: Current South Dakota teaching certificate
JOB SUMMARY: Work with students in a classroom setting on a daily basis teaching student curriculum aligned with South Dakota State curriculum Standards in order to facilitate students’ growth while working with Classroom aides, administrators, other classroom teachers, classified staff, parents, community members
PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Knowledge of students and learning.
- Knowledge of instructional skills and techniques
- Knowledge of classroom and instructional area management.
- Develop and utilize lesson plans which incorporate adopted curriculum
- Work with support staff to gain appropriate services to meet students’ needs.
- Communicate with parents on progress of students or other needed topics related to academic achievement.
- Knowledge/observe of District’s Board Policies & Procedures.
- Knowledge/observe of District’s negotiated Master Contract.
- Knowledge/observe of individual building procedures.
- Pursues professional growth.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
WORKING CONDITIONS:
- Inside
- Climate Environment: Typically, work is conducted in a comfortable environment. Some District work areas are not climate controlled and are subject to extremes of temperature and humidity.
- Hazards: For some buildings, stairs, chalk dust and exposure to communicable diseases may be a potential hazard. Travel between schools will cause exposure to hazardous driving and walking conditions.
