Position: Head High School Varsity Cross Country Coach (SY 26-27) (Stipend)
Department: Athletics
Reports to: Director of Athletics
Affiliation: Unit A, Section F
Salary range: $4,812 -$5,820 stipend
Time Commitment:
- The team meets six days a week.
- The coach works around 15-20 hours a week,
- The team has one 1 race per week
- Season runs: 8/24/2026-11/8/2026
Number of Positions: 1
This is a stipend position
SUMMARY:
The Watertown Public Schools seeks an outstanding head coach to coach the cross country team for the 2025-2026 school year. WPS is dedicated to excellence, equity, and community. Be a part of creating a bright future for WPS students.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Planning all areas of their own team.
- Leading and assisting their coaching staff to coordinate efforts under one program goal, and ensuring compliance with rules at all levels
- Analyze the game strategy.
- Implementation of skill development
- Coverage of bus trips
- Video analysis of games
- Attending all league meetings and local, district, and state meetings when necessary.
- Reaching out to local Youth Groups to promote their respective sports in town.
- Planning award ceremonies and individual award winners.
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES:
- CPR certified
- NFHS Concussion course completed
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or university
- Experience coaching cross-country
- Strong communication and leadership skills
