JOB TITLE: Custodian
REPORTS TO: Head Custodian
SUPERVISES: As designated by the head custodian
WORKS WITH: Other custodians, administrators, teachers and other staff
QUALIFICATIONS: High school diploma or equivalency, custodial experience preferred
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT 8 hours/day. 3:30pm to midnight. Clean and light maintenance.
JOB SUMMARY: Performs general and routine housekeeping and maintenance duties as assigned by the head custodian
PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Conducts daily cleaning of classrooms; cleaning of boards, furniture and glass, vacuum all carpets in assigned area, remove spots and other graffiti, dust window ledges, furniture as indicated by schedule or more often if needed;
- Mop and sanitize toilet and shower floors daily and clean and sanitize all drinking fountains, sinks, stools and urinals.
- Sweeps and mops as needed all non-carpeted flooring assigned in the work area
- Carries out procedures to maintain building security and access to buildings and rooms
- Follows procedures to economize resources for heat, light, water and supplies
- Other duties as assigned by the head custodian
PHYSICAL DEMANDS: Must be able to work in both indoor and outdoor environments. Must be able to lift up to 70 pounds and push or pull 100 pounds and be able to walk without fatigue or discomfort.
EVIRONMENTAL DEMANDS: Must be able to work indoors and outdoors as necessary.
EVALUATION: Performance of this job will be determined in accordance with provisions of the evaluation policy and procedures of the board of education.
