At TA Instruments the Inventory Control Specialist position is essential to our Distribution Team in order to ensure our world class customer service.
Responsibilities
- Perform cycle counts and location checks then reconciliing discrepancies of materials as required to meet audit requirements.
- Collaborate with purchasing and planning departments on problem solving receipt and production discrepancies.
- Perform transactions in SAP to manage material movements and control inventory accuracy.
- Manage slow moving materials to optimize location usage.
- Collaborate with manufacturing to maintain kanban levels and fulfill rush needs to avoid production shutdown.
- Proper labeling and handling of inventory to reduce damage and maintain accuracy.
- Collaborate with shipping coordinator acting as a backup. In this role you will be working with carriers, creating documents required for customs clearance and transacting shipments in SAP
- Ability to use UPS, Fed Ex, Freight Forwarder and LTL carriers software to ship both domestic and export shipment
- Understands incoterms and processes the documentation needed for export shipments.
- Knowledge normally acquired through completion of a one (1) year certificate from college or technical school in general business, inventory control or related field, or equivalent combination of education and experience
- Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals in order to perform required tasks
- Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence and memos
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to key in data using computerized inventory management system (SAP)
- Ability to organize and prioritize work activities to handle multiple assignments, problem solving
- In performing the duties of the job, the employee is regularly required to lift and carry materials weighing up to 50 lbs.
- Strong customer service skills to effectively work with customers, carriers and co-workers
- Ability to operate a forklift /reach truck and pallet jacks safely.
