Overview
The Strategy & Operational Excellence team is on a mission to improve both our customer and employee experience by transforming how we plan, buy, make, and distribute products in Waters Global Operations. Our four pillars of focus include Strategy, Processes and Systems, Continuous Improvement, and Insights. As a Senor Data Analyst, you will be working within the Insights pillar working cross-functionally within Operations focused on driving process and system improvements. This will require you to collaborate with colleagues from both operations and IT backgrounds to identify and prioritize process and systems improvement opportunities, make the changes, provide training, and monitor adoption. This will require you to play a key role enabling data driven decisions at the executive and line management levels by managing data within disparate systems as well as your ability to collaborate with and influence stakeholders across and beyond Global Operations. This role will report to a Director, GO Transformation Lead.Typical tasks of the position include, but are not limited to
- Work collaboratively within a cross-functional team and with functional leaders across multiple domains to develop a good understanding of current processes and systems used
- Assemble Waters Operations data into formats such as dashboards, scorecards, written reports, and presentations as determined appropriate through communication with stakeholders
- Building data processing pipelines that enable data extraction and transformation
- Monitor, maintain, and optimize data processes focusing on data reliability and quality
- Derive insights through Operations data, provide context for findings, highlight confounding variables, and provide awareness into exceptions.
- Engineer dataflows for broad analytics use
- Generate and distribute reports on a routine basis to internal stakeholders.
- Keep abreast of developments in the data analysis industry, act as a thought leader by engaging colleagues in active dialogue regarding industry trends and recommendations and implement best practices
The successful candidate will have a combination of knowledge, skills, and experience that would include the following
- BS/BSc in analytics, statistics or related field, Masters preferred
- Knowledge of data extraction and engineering methods, including SQL
- Experience with Power BI or other visualization toolsets
- Experience with process mining software (e.g., Celonis)
- Ability to derive insights using variable and categorical datasets
- Ability to work with large and small data sets from multiple sources and formats
- Ability to write code in at least one OOP language (preferred language is Python)
- Experience with statistical analysis tools (e.g. libraries within Python, R, Matlab)
- Working knowledge of machine learning methods in regression and classification
- Understanding of relational and non-relational databases
- Analytical thinker with an empirical orientation
- Able to translate technical concepts for non-technical audiences in both written and oral forms
- Goal focused; measures work in its contributions to business outcomes and prioritizes effort against deliverables accordingly
