Title: High School Athletic and Activities Coordinator

Immediate Supervisor: District Athletic Director or their designee
Job Summary: This position is responsible for supporting the District Athletics Director and high school athletic directors with alignment of high school athletics. This includes scheduling, hiring referees, alignment of programs between buildings, and collaboration between Waterloo Schools athletics and community programs.

Education
- Bachelor’s degree or higher from an accredited college or university preferred
Certification
- Athletic Authorization (Activities Administrator Authorization from Iowa BOEE) preferred
Experience
- Administrative experience preferred
- Public Relations experience preferred
- Coaching experience preferred

Job Duties
- Support and collaborate with high school Athletic Directors and the District Athletic Director
- Attend all monthly District Athletic Director meetings and the Metro High School Athletic Director Meetings. Attend MVC and IAC Conference Athletic Directors meetings as necessary.
- Develop Athletic Academic Advisor program and supervise high school Athletic Academic Advisors including planning and organizing bi-weekly Athletic Academic Advisors meetings, and helping to make sure support and activities are documented properly.
- Support and advise student-athletes on college recruitment, the NCAA Eligibility Center, and specific eligibility requirements.
- Support all middle school Extramural Coordinators to include assisting the HS AD’s with identifying and hiring Extramural sponsors, coordinating with the high school programs, and identifying equipment needs.
- Support and coordinate middle school and high school program development through collaboration with Athletic Directors, Coaches, and student-athletes to include coordinating high school coaches and teams visiting with middle school teams, middle school events at the high schools, high school coaches attending middle school events, middle school coaches and athletes attending high school events, and developing coach and athlete recognition programs.
- Support and collaborate with all Athletic Directors in the continued organization and development of the Waterloo Coaches Academy.
- Assist with the organization and supervision of middle school multi-school wrestling and track meets or invitationals.
- Collaborate with MS/HS AD’s, district coaches, Community Groups - Waterloo Leisure Services, YMCA, YWCA, Boys/Girls Club, YFS, and other interested parties in enhancing opportunities for our youth to be involved in developmental athletic opportunities, camps, clinics, etc., and supporting existing and new “feeder” programs.
- In collaboration with the HS AD’s, develop HS Athletic Schedules and contract officials for all home contests.
- In collaboration with the Athletic Department Administrative Assistant, HS AD’s, and First Student Transportation, schedule bus transportation for the middle school away athletic events.
- In conjunction with the Waterloo Schools School and Community Relations Department, help promote Waterloo Athletics through various social media.
- Other duties and responsibilities that may be assigned for the betterment of the Waterloo School’s athletic program.
Salary : $50,000 - $60,000
