Job Title: Heritage/IB Spanish Language Teacher

Job Summary: This position is responsible for providing education leadership through the Waterloo
Community School District curriculum and to facilitate learning that challenges and supports all students
in an equitable and safe environment and that meets Board Policy 102.0 (Educational Philosophy) and
Board and building educational goals. This position delivers the curriculum selected by the district,
congruent with the district-adopted curricula scope and sequence, in a manner congruent with district
expectations for teaching strategies, approaches and methodologies.
Hiring Specifications:
Education:
- Bachelor’s degree or foreign equivalent in Education, Education Management, Modern Languages, or related field.
Certification:
- Iowa Teaching License with endorsement to teach 5-12 Spanish.
- International Baccalaureate Language B (Spanish) certification.
Specific Requirements
- Fluent in Spanish and English.
- Demonstrated global understanding of culture in Spanish-speaking countries and ability to use Spanish language as an integral part of daily life.
Job Duties:
- Teaches Spanish language courses including IB Language B (Spanish) and Heritage Spanish to students in grades 9-12th.
- Enhances academic performance and support for implementation of the school district’s student achievement goals.
- Demonstrates competence in content knowledge appropriate to the teaching position.
- Plans and prepares for instruction. Uses strategies to deliver instruction that meet the multiple learning needs of students.
- Uses a variety of methods to monitor student learning.
- Manages the classroom.
- Pursues professional growth.
- Fulfills professional responsibilities.

Salary range: $50,000 to $82,551/yr
