Waterford Montessori Academy is seeking a skilled Math Interventionist to join our team. This individual would be working at our campus located at 4860 Midland Ave in Waterford, Michigan.
The Math Interventionist helps to support student achievement by providing targeted instruction for students who require additional support through the Multi-Tiered System of Supports (MTSS). Using evidence-based practices aligned with Montessori principles, the Math Interventionist works closely with teachers, support staff, and families to deliver high-quality, data-informed interventions that promote academic growth and student confidence.
Job Responsibilities
- Provide small-group and individualized instruction in Math for students identified through MTSS processes.
- Use research-based intervention programs and Montessori-aligned strategies to support student learning.
- Adjust instruction based on progress monitoring data, student needs, and teacher input.
- Integrate Montessori principles of independence, hands-on learning, and student agency into intervention delivery.
- Serve as a key team member in MTSS Tier II and Tier III meetings.
- Maintain accurate documentation of intervention plans, frequency, progress monitoring, and student growth.
- Communicate regularly with classroom teachers, administrators, and families regarding student progress and next steps.
- Use developmentally appropriate practices and differentiated instruction to meet the diverse needs of learners.
- Support teachers in interpreting data and identifying students in need of interventions.
- Work closely with grade-level teams and instructional staff to ensure instructional alignment and shared strategies.
- Create a peaceful, respectful learning environment that reflects Montessori values of grace, courtesy, and respect for the whole child.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Education (Master’s preferred).
- Valid teaching certification with Math endorsement.
- Must meet “Highly Qualified” standards for delivering math interventions under state and federal guidelines.
- Deep understanding of MTSS processes, data analysis, and progress monitoring.
- Familiarity with Montessori pedagogy and a commitment to supporting the development of the whole child.
- Strong interpersonal, organizational, and communication skills.
Preferred Experience
- Experience providing Tier II and Tier III interventions.
- Background in using universal screeners (e.g., NWEA MAP) and diagnostic tools.
- Experience supporting diverse learners, including English Language Learners and students with IEPs or 504 plans.
- Prior training or experience in a Montessori setting is a plus.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $45,000.00 - $50,000.00 per year
