Job Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and highly skilled Registered Nurse specializing in Infection Control and Wound Care to join our healthcare team. Responsibilities
- Develop, implement, and monitor infection control policies aligned with current CDC guidelines, OSHA standards, and hospital protocols.
- Conduct comprehensive wound assessments, establish individualized care plans, and oversee advanced wound management techniques including dressing changes, debridement, and use of specialized therapies.
- Educate staff on aseptic techniques, infection prevention strategies, and proper wound care procedures to maintain high standards of patient safety.
- Perform routine audits of infection control practices throughout clinical areas, identifying areas for improvement and ensuring adherence to compliance standards such as NCQA and HIPAA regulations.
- Collaborate with physicians, case managers, and other healthcare professionals to coordinate patient care plans involving complex wound management, infectious disease control, and medication administration.
- Maintain accurate medical documentation within electronic health records (EHR/Epic/Cerner systems), ensuring detailed records of assessments, interventions, and outcomes.
- Participate in ongoing staff training sessions on topics such as laboratory specimen processing, IV infusion techniques, and critical care procedures including ICU or trauma center protocols.
Skills
- Extensive knowledge of infection control principles, aseptic technique, and CDC/OSHA regulations.
- Proficiency in wound care management including suturing techniques, ostomy care, and advanced dressings.
- Experience working with diverse patient populations such as geriatrics, pediatrics, or individuals with developmental disabilities.
- Familiarity with EMR/EHR systems like Epic or Cerner for documentation and patient record management.
- Strong clinical skills in critical care environments including ICU or trauma center experience; familiarity with ventilator management is a plus.
- Knowledge of laboratory procedures such as specimen collection/processing and laboratory experience related to infectious disease diagnostics.
- Ability to educate patients on infection prevention measures and post-discharge wound care instructions effectively.
