About BOOST
Since 2016, BTS has spearheaded the BOOST! Community Schools Initiative, an approach to building partnerships between schools and community resources. The objective is to integrate focus on academics, health and social services, youth and community development and community engagement to improve student learning, build stronger families and healthier communities. This framework requires public schools and the public sector to shift from traditional models of segregated services to a collaborative effort, leveraging strategic partnerships and providing an accessible array of services directly at Waterbury Public School’s free preK-8 institutions - Carrington, Duggan, Gilmartin, Reed & Wendell Cross.
Position Summary
BTS seeks Site Coordinator to support its BOOST Community Schools Initiative. Site Coordinators are school based. The primary purpose of the position is to provide direct, on-site support to school administration, BOOST providers and service recipients/program participants. Coordinators would report directly to the Assistant Director of Community Schools. Additionally, they will serve as point-contact for service recipients, program participants and community members in need of information regarding specific programming, services and/or the Community Schools Initiative. The person should have a strong background in any of the following: advancing racial equity in public education, positive youth development, family engagement, collective impact and have experience working in diverse settings.

The following are additional responsibilities associated with the coordinator role:
Communications & Community Outreach
- Remain knowledgeable about current and pending partnerships and serve as point-contact for service recipients, program participants and community members in need of information regarding specific programming, services and/or the Community Schools Initiative
- Coordinate with the BTS Community Impact & Marketing Team to support promotion of programming and services via regular communications to student/parent/community listservs and social media
Programs & Data Support
- Assist with Program & Service Evaluations by monitoring program quality, distributing and collecting routine pre/post surveys (when applicable) and sharing findings with relevant BTS, school and district personnel
- Collect program invoices, corresponding program attendance sheets and any pre/post survey data for review and processing
- Assist with program facilitation and instruction as requested (i.e., select during and after school programs, parent nights, open house)
Leadership
- Maintain regular communication with school administration, teachers, and other school staff by attending and presenting at relevant school meetings (i.e, Governance Council, Parent Teacher Organization, staff meetings) to provide on-going support and exchange of program/service information
- Coordinate regularly with Parent Liaisons, select school personnel and fellow Coordinators to discuss strategy and support mutual efforts
- Participate in on-going professional development to ensure continuous skills improvement and growth within the role
The Site Coordinator must accommodate a flexible work schedule that includes some evenings. They will be proficient in the use of Google Suite (i.e., Docs, Sheets, Slides, Forms), Microsoft Office (i.e., Word, Excel, PowerPoint), and virtual meeting platforms (i.e. Zoom, Teams); Canva a plus. The Site Coordinator must have strong organizational and interpersonal skills.
The ability to communicate clearly in oral and written form is essential. A working knowledge, understanding and/or capacity to support an anti-racist, culturally relevant and rooted organizational approach. Additionally, they must effectively handle confidential conversations, content, and/or information, have the ability to prioritize work and office needs with minimal supervision, and independently perform a variety of work in an organized manner always meeting assigned timeframes. The position needs to be able to manage a broad variety of tasks, self-initiative and incorporate creative problem-solving skills.

Education/Experience: High School Diploma minimally required with lived and work experience considered in lieu of a degree or certification. Associate degree in education, human services, non-profit management or related field, and/or two years experience as an Administrative Assistant a plus. Must have a valid CT driver’s license. Bilingual a plus (Spanish, Albanian, and/or Portuguese).
The Site Coordinator works in a typical school office setting that is ADA compliant. They may share space with other office staff and work with other staff in close proximity. In addition, work can and may occur remotely. Access to WIFI required.
A typical day includes sitting, standing, bending, walking, lifting, keyboarding, and phone work. Additionally, the employee may need to drive and climb stairs.
Pay: $22.00 - $26.00 per hour
