Job Title: Director of Annual Fund 

Reports to: Vice President of Donor Relations 

Location: HQ office in Bentonville, AR

Status: Full-time, Exempt

Water for Good currently serves in Cambodia, the Central African Republic, Ethiopia, Tanzania, and Uganda.

 

Position Summary: The Director of Annual Fund is responsible for leading and managing all aspects of Water for Good’s Annual Fund Giving Program. This role will develop and implement strategies to increase donor participation, retention, and revenue. The Director will work closely with the Vice President of Donor Relations and the Marketing team to build strong relationships with donors, provide great donor experiences and ensure the successful execution of fundraising campaigns. This person will also work to ensure effective administration of annual fund gifts through gift acknowledgement plans. 

 

Responsibilities & Duties Overview:   

 

Annual Fund Strategy and Execution: 

  • Develop and implement a comprehensive annual giving strategy and plan to achieve the Annual Fund fundraising goals by targeting key segments of donors, including new donors, monthly donors, regular donors, churches, businesses, schools, fundraisers, etc. 
  • Goals: Set dollar, participation, and qualitative goals for the annual giving program.  
  • Cultivation and Stewardship: Develop and execute cultivation and stewardship plans and resources for various donor segments to ensure high levels of donor retention and satisfaction. 
  • Fundraising Campaigns: Develop and execute a calendar/schedule of multi-channel solicitation campaigns (e.g., digital solicitation, direct mail appeals, face-to-face solicitations, text messages, peer to peer campaigns) to communicate with potential and current donors closely working with the Marketing team, Leadership team, and the board. 
  • Signature event: Develop and execute signature fundraising events (1-3 large events annually) to raise awareness about the cause and raise $500k annually from the events.
     

 Data Management and Reporting: 

  • Oversee the gift acknowledgment process to ensure timely recognition of gifts and accurate, updated receipts/letters. 
  • Maintain accurate records of donor interactions and contributions in the CRM system. 
  • Analyze and improve the strategies of the current email automations to different segment of donors. 
  • Deliver regular reports or dashboards on annual fund performance for the Vice Present of Donor Relations, Leadership Team and Board of Directors. 
  • Monitor and analyze key performance indicators to assess the effectiveness of annual giving efforts.
    Analyze donor data to identify trends, opportunities, and areas for growth. 
  • Develop and execute regular donor surveys to understand more about the donor segments, their motivation and donor experiences.  

 

Collaboration and Team Leadership: 

  • Work closely with the Vice President of Donor Relations and Development team to align annual fund strategies with overall organizational goals. 
  • Provide leadership and mentorship to Development staff involved in the Annual Fund Program. 
  • Collaborate with Marketing and Communications teams to create compelling fundraising materials. 
  • Assist the Vice Present of Donor Relations in creating the budget 
  • Collaborate with the Sr. Manager Public Relations and Community Engagement to plan and execute the signature events and engage new business partnerships/sponsorships 
  • Collaborate with the Marketing Technology Manager and IT team to create or improve the performance of the existing automations in Salesforce and Pardot.

Work Experience & Qualifications: 

Required Qualifications:  

  • Passion for Water for Good’s mission of transforming lives through sustainable access to safe water, and improved sanitation and hygiene in places that need it most 
  • Bachelor’s degree in Nonprofit Management, Marketing, Communications, or related field. 
  • A minimum of 5 years of experience in fundraising, with a focus on annual giving. 
  • Proven track record of successfully managing and growing an annual fund program. 
  • Strong understanding of fundraising principles, donor stewardship, and best practices. 
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills. 
  • Ability to analyze data and use insights to inform strategy and decision-making. 
  • Proficiency with CRM systems and fundraising software. 
  • Legally eligible to work in the United States; no sponsorship will be provided 

  

Preferred Qualifications 

  • Experience working with Salesforce and Asana (or similar CRM and PM software) 

 

Physical Qualifications 

  • Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer 
  • Must be able to lift up to 25 pounds at a time 

 

Travel Required: up to 10%

Salary : $80,000 - $90,000
